Guest Graham1 Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Hi I'm thinking about flashing my San Francisco phone but just wanted to clear a few things up beforehand :D. 1. If I rooted my phone, does that then mean that the account running on the phone is now "root"? I understand that "root" has full access to the system (phone) but would that also mean that if I was using an application online (i.e web browsers, news reader, etc), it would run under "root" whereas before, it would have been some kind of "limited" account. 2. Do I need to root my phone first to be able to flash it or can this be done with the default account? :P

Guest Graham1 Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Hi Steven So with "root" enabled, the phone would still be running under the limited account? The root (or superuser) prompt would only be needed when accessing other parts (post root) of the phone? Thanks for the welcome. :D 1> No but there is an APP called superuser that prompts you when Special APPS ask for Root access 2> No, you can do it as it is. btw: Welcome.
