Guest whirlypig Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 In the process of moving house I managed to mislay the CD that came with my SPV. I've also had to rebuild my PC and now whenever I connect my SPV to my PC it asks for the location of the driver for the new hardware. Does anyone know where I can pick up a Windows XP driver? Just out of interest what other software came on the CD? I've pulled down a copy of ActiveSync 3.6, just wondering if there's anything else I might need and if so, where I can get it. Many thanks.
Guest yatpeak Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 On the CD was the programs on the 8Mb SD, outlook and a PPT-PSS(pocket slideshow) converter. Unless you want outlook, I think the 8Mb SD and the PPT-PSS converter is all that you'll need. If you PM me your e-mail, I'll send you the converter. Wyatt
Guest whirlypig Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Wyatt, many thanks for the offer to send me those bits of software. I should be alright though, I've got Outlook and I've still got my 8MB SD card that I can read through an SD reader. The only thing missing would be that PPT-PSS converter but I honestly wouldn't use it. I only use my phone as a phone, car mp3 player and occasionally as a modem for my laptop (when it decides to work). Thanks again, Iain
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Just to clarify, you don't need any additional software/drivers other than Activesync to use the SPV with your computer. Just make sure its Activesync that gets installed first (eg before you plug the SPV into the cradle for the first time), then ignore all of WinXP's attepmts to be "useful" thereafter.
Guest whirlypig Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 It's working fine now. I had ActiveSync 3.6 installed but it wouldn't see the phone on the USB port. Connected the phone this morning and it found the phone and set a Partnership up for it. Seems a bit temperamental not unlike the iPAQ. Sometimes it just wouldn't see the device, plugging it back in a few times and it would come to life. When I plugged it in before XP did seem to indicate that it needed a driver though on one occasion it did seem to see it as an "HTC xxxx device" and carry on without prompting. Thanks
