Broken Market on ZT-180 - help please

Updated to the 1204 firmware without hitch - all well. For some reason I tried to update the market to 2.2.7 which resulted in an immediate forced close on starting. Reverted back to 1.8.2 and got forced closes and apps stuck at "Starting Download". Tried known working versions of 2.2.7 to no avail. I've cleared cache via applications in Settings and in Titanium Backup. Have rebooted etc. Current situation is that the 1.8.2 version now gives the "Network error" message as though no connection were available.

Any further ideas before I reflash?
