Guest isambard Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 My touchscreen died and no longer registers touches. I'll flash on the vendor ROM, but was wondering if there is an existing method to reset the network lock when you have a non-working touchscreen...

That sometimes helps (did for me). Otherwise: no. You may be able to use ADB but I doubt it, unless you can run something on the phone and give it inputs that way

Guest rjm2k Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) you could use the hungarian update, just extract to the /image directory of your sd, overwrite system.img, recovery.img and boot.img with the stock versions for your phone (see stock thread), power up holding menu, and vol + and it should be wiped and reset to new. Check that the hungarian thing is confirmed to work on your model though, and if you have a 256meg model it will be upgraded to 512meg. Edit: I see you want to re-lock, afaik there is no method to do this. Edited January 11, 2011 by rjm2k
Guest catb Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) Perhaps it would be useful to make a poll (or two) out of this, like ? Did your Blade die in the last month because of a hardware failure (NOT SOFTWARE, such as ROM, etc) ? (perhaps some more info to properly detect a hardware failure, for everyone) Yes No What kind of failure was it ? Screen not registering touches, display working Screen off completely power button no longer working phone completely off etc I am curious about the failure rate, I suspect is pretty high (yeah, I know it's low cost, but still). That's why I will buy it from a real shop, that offers warranty (as opposed to ebay). Edited January 11, 2011 by catb

He could probably teach us about it .... yeah. strange that the backplate thing also worked for a while (as did the squeezing thing) and then finally it stopped working completely. i guess i need to write a program that will relock without user input... Doesn't this suggest that there's a connection problem in there somewhere? If it had happened outside warranty, it would be worth a take-apart and reassemble ...

If it had happened outside warranty, it would be worth a take-apart and reassemble ... yeah. that's what i thought. i guess i should really send it back. if i can't fix it or something is broken inside, then opening it up would void my warranty so i would be left with a dud.
Guest gambieter Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) i guess i need to write a program that will relock without user input... Contact Arr Too and ask whether he can write in his BladeUnlock utility that it can use the "Menu" key to re-lock? If you go into Clockworkmod, there is a key test which includes the screen. Have you tried that? Edited January 11, 2011 by gambieter
Guest oh!dougal Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Contact Arr Too and ask whether he can write in his BladeUnlock utility that it can use the "Menu" key to re-lock? ... Even better would be a "relocker" that would autorun from boot ... Drop that into a TPT installer, and as long as it boots and recognises Vol+, then you could relock and then re-virgin a seriously un-cooperative phone with 2 TPTs.
Guest isambard Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 ok. fwiw, i tried to send a re-lock intent via an ADB shell, but i couldn't get it to work. there must be some way to do it. what i did instead was write a small program which re-locks the phone on start and plays a beep to confirm and installed it via eclipse. now to TPT back to a stock rom...
Guest Dean Thomas Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 My touchscreen died and no longer registers touches. I'll flash on the vendor ROM, but was wondering if there is an existing method to reset the network lock when you have a non-working touchscreen... I've had exactly the same problem with mine. Bought just before Christmas and the last few days the touchscreen has been getting more and more temperamental before completely dying. I've re-flashed the stock ROM, but was considering just taking it back to Argos with Clockwork Recovery/Unlock still in place and hoping to get a replacement/refund. If they want to send it off for repair then I'll just have to take my chances.
