Is this right - a few lines of banding appears on the preview screen when using the camera, then when you tap on the snapshot button, the image appears (wobbly) then banding of the snapshotted image appears....the image appears perfect though when stored into the gallery?

Anyone else having this issue? :D

LIES.

You need to increase VM Heap (or probably decrease it).

The issue of screen 'banding' has been an FAQ since the phone was released.

As stated, changing VM Heap Size may help minimise it.

Do practice with the Search function.

I think 'banding' would be a good word to try searching for ...

I don't think that saying this was needed, but at least you did offer some advice afterwards :D

I thought this issue was resolved with some of the later roms? Never experienced it myself, has it come back with the new kernal?

Is 32 generally the best heap figure for all round?

32 was the default for Modaco R5 alpha with kernel 2.6.32, I increased that to 38 and it seems better.... :D
