Guest Mogedwards Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) Hi, In another thread I have mentioned that I have inadvertantly 'Bricked' my Vega by accidently pressing the 'Recovery' app in the R6 ROM. I have been through all the threads giving help on rectifying this, including the various button pushing sequences (as given on the Advent Vega support page) http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/full_system_...nstructions.pdf Nothing is working. I have looked in 'My Computer' in my PC and it does not detect the Vega when it is switched on. I have rebooted my PC several time but it does not detect it. I have run the 'Install New Hardware' in Control panel but still nothing. So finally, here's the question. How do I get my PC to detect the Vega so that I can do a new install? You could try using USBdeview to remove all the existing drivers for your vega and start over, hopefully your pc (assuming windows) will auto-detect it when you plug it in.

Guest travisb Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 See my last reply in this thread It didn't work the first few times I tried, but eventually I heard the device connection sound, and the Vega was seen in the Device Manager.

Thanks for that. I followed what you said and got the sound and even a pop up wizard, which is a step forward, but NVidia recovery USB host was not visible in device manager and the connection wizard didn't help either. So, at present, I still have a blank, though backlit screen.
Guest travisb Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Keep going, it took a few times before it appeared for me.

Here's the link to the official Vega USB drivers: http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/SystemUSB.zip IIRC when I had this problem, these are the drivers I had to use, any others didn't work correctly with re-flashing the vega. And this is the guide I used the first time I did it. Make sure you remove ALL Vega drivers (if you have any!) from device manager before progressing. http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...p-update-guide/ Mario Edited January 11, 2011 by MarioUK
Guest stevesilk51 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Mogedwards, Manually delete all USB drivers, restart PC, connect Vega, should be seen by PC, use correct USB drivers as outlined in several threads. This method worked for me. If vega is seen as a phone that's ok (at least it was for me) Keep at it, you will succeed as many of us have been through the same.
