Ask a daft question!

In an attempt to cut down on lots of threads being opened where people ask simple one-liner questions, I thought I'd create a quick thread for folks to ask "Quickfire questions".

Let's see if the thread works, if not ... I'll delete it.

Ok ... GO !

In fact, I shall start.

Assembled SanFran users ...

"If I install a 2.2 ROM onto my SanFran, do I need to initially configure Google's services via 3G connection rather than WiFi (as I had to with MoDaCo 2.1 R4 Rom ?)."

Thank you.

I use isyncr because I find it the easiest. It places an exe on your sd card so that when you mount your sd and run it it comes up with an app in windows that lets you select what playlists you want from itunes and then pulls them to sd card.

That was an issue that Paul fixed in Alpha 2 or 3 of his Froyo ROM, so all later Froyo ROMs ought to be OK over wireless.

Not put any music on my SanFran, however I used 'itunes agent' to put music on the Wife's Desire. Works a treat, easy to use, just stick whatever you want on a play-list and sync it over.

A. Wouldn't doubleTwist work for this? I see an option in doubleTwist to automatically import playlists from iTunes.

Q: What about syncing playlists to my phone but not through itunes? (if possible through a selected folder or through Zune playlist)

Okay here goes...

If I root my SF using Universal Root, then install a ROM which is not Rooted, will my phone be rooted?

or is it easier just to install a unrooted ROM then root it using Universal Root?

Thanks!

Winamp and DoubleTwist both offer syncing over Wifi and USB. You can specify playlists, dunno about folder monitoring.

Question: Has anyone thought of making a UI for fastboot? Since we are mostly a community of android starters, it would help lot of people do things faster.

(Ya i know its really easy to run the fastboot commands but you know if we actually had a UI the questions would be less)

Quote: Winamp syncs only through Windows Winamp program and doubletwist is paid app, right?

Q: Is there a fix available to the Youtube "green" bar problem with Froyo ROMs (not switching off stagefright?)

Thanks! :D

Would it be best to untick "Data connection" in the settings>account and sync>Data connection? or should that be kept running?

If you are fine with syncing via a USB cable, doubleTwist is free.

If you want wireless syncing, then you need to buy AirSync as an addon to doubleTwist. I think it is an addon, but not sure.

Hey, recently just got my first Android, the SF, so I'm 100% novice at all of this stuff.

I was checking reviews before I bought which recommended "rooting" and removing the Orange rubbish. They also said that adding Froyo 2.2 onto it will speed it up significantly.

I've checked around these forums and found one fairly big guide, which near enough made no sense at all to me. :D

Eventually I found a simple guide Here, which seems to be exactly what I'm looking for.

I also watched Paul's video on Youtube about Rooting/Flashing.

My problem comes at step 6 on the guide - running the "fastboot-windows" command, the command prompt gives me this.

"Fastboot windows" is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

This is really getting me frustrated... :P

Anyone know where I'm going wrong?

Laptops running on Vista, if that's any help.

Thanks. B)

Have you navigated to the dirtectory that fastboot is stored in? For example, if its on the root of you C drive... try typing in cd C:\ first.
