Guest EZ44 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Hi, When my Streak is docked (official Dell HDMI dock) I tend to get no ringing sound on phone calls or alarms, just vibrating at best. Before anyone asks, I do have it set to disable the dock sound output and a reboot will usually fix it. This happens on both the 2.2 (318) official Froyo release and DJSteve's 1.6.0 StreakDroid which I just installed. I keep missing phone calls and alarms and it's getting very frustrating. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issue or knows of a fix? Thanks.

Guest EZ44 Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Do you by chance have soundhound loaded? No, I don't have SoundHound loaded on my Streak.
Guest EZ44 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 I've tried endlessly to play with the dock settings but it's not working. I have 'Dock Insertion Sound' enabled and even the times it does 'ding' upon insertion it still won't ring. So far only a reboot gets the ringer back but only temporarily. Does anyone know if there is a setting in a config file that I can change or add to get this working. I have read other dock related topics but so far nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Guest EZ44 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Change your rom. I had problems with Steve's ROMS but is OK now with official 2.2 This happens on official 2.2_318 as well so it's not just Stephen's rom. I can't remember if I had the issue with 2.1 (don't think so) but I definitely did not have it with 1.6.
Guest foxhoundep3 Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 oh man.. i thought i was the only one.. have you found a solution to this????
Guest jnovello Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 You know I noticed this too, but only in the past few weeks. I thought it was so annoying that it would ask about the speaker every time I docked, but now it never does it just asks for home or what ever. I bet that if you put an earlier version of Steve's or one of the first official 2.2 roms on it will work again. I would try, but I don't need the sound and do not want to set up everything just as I have it AGAIN.

I'm pretty sure that on 2.1 rom's and earlier it would ask to 'enable/cancel' speaker out every time you docked where enabling would turn off your phone's speaker. On the official 2.2 and Stephen's rom's you can choose to 'always' (disable, enable, or always ask) with regards to speaker out on the dock automatically. Unfortunately neither choice seems to fix no sound for ringer/alarms. Official 2.2 (318 build) also does not work (319) is for O2 network which I don't need so I haven't tried it. Now, Stephen's rom's have many fixes and performance updates in each release so to flash version by version in an effort to fix this will likely just cause other issues to show up. Plus, if it works on other builds then there is no reason why there shouldn't be a way to fix it. I don't see a line in the build.prop dealing with the dock and I don't know where else the config setting might be stored. That's assuming that some type of configuration setting can fix this at all... perhaps it's just some other file that needs to be replaced/updated, who knows. Edited January 17, 2011 by EZ44

I have tried and no luck <--------- Ha! I thought I fixed it when I went all the way back to O2 1.6 ROM and then upgraded to steves 1.5.3. On 1.6.0 i haven't not been able to get it to work at all. Good thing that you mentioned that the dock doesn't work even with the official 2.2 which is freaky. Since ATT has not release the official 2.2 yet, I cant complain to the Dell customer service other wise I would have!

I am on Steve's 1.6.1 Unfortunately, I think you may be one of the lucky ones. I have been on 1.6.1 since it was released a few days back and still have the dock issues. I can only fix it temporarily by rebooting the phone while docked.

I could be wrong as, oddly enough, I have been testing it on 1.6.1 and it has worked every time so far. On 1.6.0 it wasn't working but for some reason 1.6.1 'seems' to be okay. I'll keep testing it out over the next few days to see if it continues to work.
