Guest stevelaw Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 I visited an Orange shop on Saterday, noticed the SPV on-sale quoting a stand-by life of upto 4 days. Is this a true and fair view or a blatent mis-representation?
Guest SirGaz Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 And in the sales broucher it also states that the SPV has polyphonic ring tones, car charger, no downloadable games and a few other items that are wrong. Looks like it's not just the manual that's utter rubbish.
Guest spiderboy Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 I think everyone is getting caught with the same mis-marketing fabricated by orange to sell a simply inferior phone.
Guest DJHope Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 They dont lie, leave the phone in radio off mode, keylocked with the backlight off and it will last for 4days+! DJ Hopw
Guest Sculli Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 I have noticed a big big difference with battery life if, while the charger is plugged into the phone, I turn the phone off and then on again. It has been on for eleven hours now (I'm an early riser!), with a few text messages, 10 minutes of calls, a wee bit of catching up on the news on the internet, checked my e-mail twice...... And I'm still on 4 bars! Sculli
Guest xanadu Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 The battery life is only a guide, so I would ignore what the manufacturers tell you. It's a bit like the fuel consumption figures on a car. It depends how you use it. I get at least 2 weeks standby with the SPV switched off :) ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Or it could be a phone with the new update :)
Guest HelloDave Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 Battery life misrepresentation is common among mobiles, not just the SPV, although that is at the extreme end of the scale! I once read that Nokia (yes, they can lie too :)) measure battery life on their phones by literally taping the phone to the transmitter so it's as close as possible to it and then don't touch it until the battery goes flat. According to the Christmas Orange brochure, the 7650 has a standby time of "up to 9.5 days" which I find very hard to believe!
Guest Firaas Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 I've had it two nights max with about 10 minutes/calls.
Guest Pidder Posted February 11, 2003 Report Posted February 11, 2003 I have noticed a big big difference with battery life if, while the charger is plugged into the phone, I turn the phone off and then on again. Holy Sh*t you are right!!! My battery lasts longer as well.
