Appreciate any help if possible......

I unlocked my orange san francisco and put in my tesco sim and all was well, I installed launcherpro and lost my internet connection although my calls and texts worked fine. a factory restore and deleting launcherpro got my internet back. but I decided to root the phone using the superboot thread on this site and had I read the whole thread and all the problems I wouldn't have tried, but anyway while following the instructions word for word my phone just locked and the pc said "waiting for device". The only way to get the phone to do anything was to remove the battery, since then a factory restore has helped with the few glitches it had but when the tesco sim is inserted it says NO SIM and when I try to add an APN it disappears after saving, and when I try to connect via the o2-uk network it says "your sim does not allow a connection to this network".... any ideas

anyone do a paid service to fix this ?

My phone is OLE not TFT

literally just setup tesco from an unlocked phone previously with o2. try putting in the name and apn name and save, see if that works as it didnt take to mine first. once you done the name and apn you can go back in and fill in the rest.

didn't work..... unfortunately I think the attempt to follow the superboot thread that locked it up might have something to do with it. I just hope there's someone knowledgeable enough to be able to undo all the problems and make it start afresh so it will take the tesco sim... I PM'd Paul but got no reply but he probably gets swamped with messages. Maybe there's someone who owns a mobile shop who can sort it for a small price....

I'm using a Tesco SIM in my SF (£10, 30 day rolling contract - 500mins, 3000 txts and 500meg internet) - I'm running FLB r6 at the moment - no problems at all, network provider shows as O2-UK.

Was prev running on stock rom and it worked no probs.

Would you be prepared to install clockwork and flash a new rom ?? I guess you've got nothing to lose as it doesn't seem to work now ??

I am totally new to android and the instructions were very clear to install clockwork and then the new rom

Good luck

Yes I agree with geoff ,

i would go down the clockwork route , and install a new rom from zip on the sdcard with it , , wipe all user settings with clockwork and also wipe the delvoc cache too ,

Follow the " install a rom from scratch thread" on this forum

I have unlocked San Fransisco and Tesco SIM, one month rolling contract, like you. I am able to connect to data and use facebbok, gmail (via application), etc but unable to use internet; browser doesn't open/load any page. Any suggestion?

Tried loading Opera mini web browser via marketplace and see if that works?

I Have tesco sim (same deal) working on my unlocked but stock Orange ROM. I had to enter the o2 network settings and it all works.

Does it work ok on wifi? - if so then must be a Tesco setting on the phone needing correcting/entering.

Thanks for your reply. I am using the web browser that comes in-built with android. The web broswer works well with wifi. I have entered the following details in APN:

Name: Tesco WAP

APN: prepay.tesco-mobile.com

Proxy: 193.113.200.195

Port: 8080

Username: tescowap

Password: password

Server: - not set

MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8080

MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195

MMS Port: 8080

MCC: 234

MNC: 10

Authentication type: PAP

APN Type: default (you type default)

Please can you see if I am using the right kind of settings. Many thanks.

Wow.. with opera mini, it works. thanks!

My settings are:

name: Tesco MMS

APN: prepay.tesco-mobile.com

Proxy: 193.113.200.195

port: 8080 (some sites say 9201)

username: tescowap

password: password

Server: not set

mmsc: not set

mms proxy: not set

mms port: not set

mcc: 234

mnc: 10

authentication: not set

apn type: default

I noticed my MMS settings aren't set and yours are so it's likely I can't send.receive MMS

I've also found that Opera web browser works with the wrong port number set but the standard web browser (that comes with the Orange branded SanFran) would not connect to anything until port set to 8080
