Why don't setup a common kernel and other sources repository

Hi everybody,

we have (fortunately) many devs working on missing things on acer liquid kernel sources, fixes, driver fixes and so on.

It's common to see that some of our devs occasionally loose their source tree, o simply they broke something and they can't rollback.

So why don't create a common repository? (git, svn, what you want...)

Another advantage to have a kernel tree available it's that if someone of us would like to build a kernel for a specific rom (acer roms and cyanogen, miui etc have different vmsplits) he can.

I would like to help, but you can imagine how hard (and useless) could be to start from (broken and old) acer sources..

Regards

but the point it's that not everyone uses it....

For example, as I know (correct me if I'm wrong), roggin fix for wifi tethering (and I mean not only kernel sources, but also scripts used in boot.img) is missing from that repository... and so on

..

and it's not updated from 12 semptember......

Wifi tethering fix is strict kernel. Sensors was framework.

This would be a good idea. I don't know what to say though. Don't see it happening.

roggin is updating his repository, which is forked by phh's. Currently his kernel source is most recently updated.

Where is roggin's repo anyways? I've tried looking around and am still not sure where this is...

Ahh gitorious. No wonder.

Once Gingerbread is ready I get to play with this

Great! we have roggin' kernel source.. now I need to learn how to build it ;))))

He didn't base it off roggin's repo recently, because it doesn't have the memory patch that increases adds RAM support for the Liquid E. Wondering what this is as well.

Are you able to build it? if so does the boot process works so long that the device can be detected by adb? does adb logcat works?

GREAT work!

Nooo, it can't create apanic log, and you want it to be detected by adb ;) We solving problems, and many of the them were passed.

Hi noxwell, any news about Multitouch fix? Will be included in this kernel? ;)

Exactly, what are the benefits of a .32 kernel?

Hi dario, the benefits of a .32 kernel are:

-First of all the speed. Linux kernel improves its speed in each version.

-2.6.29 is a quite old kernel...it has quite obsolete ways to manage device's resources

-There are some patchs to improve kernel speed, for example Bfs and Cfs

I also think that 2.6.32 is better because all new android devices have it instead of 2.6.29 ;)
