Guest veehexx Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 i've been paying around with the newer 2.2 roms (JJ rls6, and flb's r6), and they both exibit the same issues: google maps (doesnt appear to have 'use GPS' option anymore!), appears to connect to gps correctly; i get a solid retical with a dot in the middle of it, on the taskbar, and position is accurate to 8m. i can find no-way to disable GPRS/3g connectivity with gmaps, so it might just be calculating position from the network antennas. however google maps navigation does something different. the retical (with solid dot) on the taskbar appears for 10-20secs, and then disappears. a few seconds later it re-appears with a flashing dot, then turns solid, and then disappears again. it gets stuck in this cycle and the message onscreen says "checking navigation availablility". im not quite sure what that means! it's happening on both the 2.2 roms, although have yet to test JJ rls7. is anyone experiencing similar issues? is there anything i can check/test?

Nope, I've gone through all of the Jellyfish roms (just flashed 7) and all but 7 (which I haven't tested yet) have worked flawlessly for me. You can normally guess if it's GPS or cell tower positioning by the accuracy. Anything under 50-80M or so is GPS, otherwise it's the tower info.

Guest veehexx Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 looks like i found a solution on XDA; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...amp;postcount=6 just restoring back to flb r6, and i'll give it a go. common thought is the issue is caused by opening navigator first. you need to open maps and then navigator. .... ok, it worked. looks like clearing the google maps data store fixed it.
