Hi today I bought this phone today and as soon as I took it out of the box I noticed a few differences, my little sister has got an oled version and my other sister got the tft one at christmas

1. the back is not squeeking and fits perfectly and is now a pain to get off

2. the actual power button (the one on the phone, not the button on the back cover) is white and seems slightly bigger than in the previous ones, (It could be bigger because it hasnt got chipped yet when you put the back cover back on incorrectly)

3. it feels more solid and buttons dont have that squeeking noise in them

4. the default sd card it came with was a sandisk 2gb microsd card instead of the verbation

Now the bad bits, I dunno if its just my phone but with the sd card, when I plug the phone in and I start copying or doing something, about 10 seconds later it says please plug in drive x: like it has been unplugged, tried different operating systems and computers and same problem, also tried the card in another phone and its fine and when I replace the sd card with any of the other ones I get this issue where it detects it then prepares it and its fine then it says it was removed unexpectedly a couple of seconds later

I think it might be an the issue with the above but every custom rom I try and flash it ends up saying can not open /sdcard/x.zip (bad)

im going to take it back tomorrow to get a replacement so hopefully the issues I stated above get solved

Then we can compare with our models and look at the power button.

well the only cameras that I got is the pulse and the oled blade and both are terrble at shooting pictures plus the fact that its 12am over here and the only source of light is fron one small light

The only way I can explain it is that the button is white and the bit that it sits on is also white while before they were black

Where did you get it? Online, local Orange Shop, Argos?

I am getting a grey one tomorrow for the daughter of a friend (bought from Orange online), and bought a white one last weekend (Orange shop). The white one is fine, doesn't have any of the problems you mention. Will see what the grey one tomorrow is.

it might be the usb connection, if i touched the usb cable my connection would die, try firmly holding the usb cable in place. what version is the o.s on the about screen?

No its not a usb cable issue, I got like 4 different ones and all have the same issue, it could be the port on the phone

sorry, I know this is late, did you try reseating the micro sd, or changing it for another?

Hi,

I purchased a new phone the other day from Argos, the TFT model.

It also has a white power button unlike my now dead OLED which had a black button.

The SD card is still the "verbation" card.

The only diference I have noticed other than the screen image qaulity is the fact that the touch screen has a grid of small dots that you can see if viewed at an angle with the display off. The OLED didn't have this.

I suspect that the changes are just due to changes in component suppliers.

I have had no problem transfering data to the phone or flashing it with 2.2 JJ Rls 7, part from the light level sensor.

When I get a moment I will post some pictures.

I bought mine, here in portugal three weeks ago, and it's like you are saying the button and the screen.

The question is: aren't all the TFT blades like this?

Yes I did try and was the same problem

I went to the orange shop today to get a replacement and they didnt have anymore black ones in stock but they did have a white one, everything I listed earlier is the same for the white so maybe its a newer batch because with my sisters phones as soon as I took the phones out of the box they were squeeky, the back wasnt on properly, etc

So far no sd removed unexpectadly issues and I managed to flash a rom without it giving that error message on the first comment

Another difference I noticed is that the microusb cable fits in more tightly while before they could easily be pulled out

i had ordered 2 from prepaymnia.co.uk on 17-18th Dec.

one of them has this white power button switch.

both of them have verbatim microSD

yes the white one has a weird copy paste problem.

it is to do with the way formats the card..something is wrong with that. remove the card and try with card reader and the card just frozes.

For some reason, it happens with same damn file. (i tried copying an update file n problem persisted over win7 as well as ubuntu)

how ever, copying different file works flawlessly.

i just formatted the card and created a new partition table using ubuntu to get to copy that specific file. But once i put the card back in with phone, it starts again.

PS, i format the card using the custom 2.5.1.3 recovery (the one that is for creating ext2/3 partition for app2sd. This maybe broken.

About the back cover, it was hard to remove for both of the phones.

This may not be a new batch just post christmass and it only proves that OLED is still existent, but works out on lottery basis i guess ;)

Well, phone arrived this morning (grey TFT). Did not show any of the things mentioned here (normal internal powerbutton, Sandisk SDHC card, backplate removal normal).

However, it turned out to be defective, as it cannot find any network (Network busy; please retry later). The SIM card is OK in another SF, and when that Orange SIM card was placed in the new one, no network detection. Phoned Orange Customer Service, was helped in a pleasant way, and they are exchanging it tomorrow morning. The whole phone, I only keep the SIM card.

So I'll look at whether that one is OK or not ;)

There's no maybe involved.

Seb's 2.5.1.8, is better all round. (And the right way up - though I kinda liked the upside down 'not in Kansas anymore' feeling)

Ummm. if they were both Orange sims, the phone almost certainly just needed activation.

There are LOTS of threads on Orange activation ...

No, I also unlocked with Arr Too's BladeUnlock and put a T-mobile SIM in, same result. The new Orange SIM was activated in another OSF without any problem, put back and again no network. Relocked it for exchange.

The problem is not with the SIM, but the phone. This is the tenth SF phone I work with ;)

Um, yes, but its actually the phone that needs to be Orange-activated, not the sim.

Should have worked on T-Mobile, though.

Interesting. Usually it's the other way around (at least where I live).

So that means you just can't put your SIM in other phone and make calls right away?

OK, never heard of that. I assume only Orange can do that? Or can I do that myself?

I can try my Dutch SIM card after unlock, that one can go on any network. I think however it is the phone as Tmobile didn't work.

The phone, as delivered by Courier has been 'locked' to Orange, but actually barred from OrangeUK's own network until "activated". (This seems to be different from phones bought in a shop and handed to the purchaser.)

This thread isn't about activation.

LOTS of others are

here's one started in September ... http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...ms-not-working/

and an October one covering the shop/courier difference http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...im-in-san-fran/

this forum badly needs an FAQ section ...

Thanks. I had a look at those and it seems different. Interestingly enough I didn't have this problem with the earlier phones that I got delivered from Orange back in October/November.

Edit: tested the Dutch SIM that works on any UK network, but it won't find any network; always busy. So I am convinced it is the phone ;)

All TFT have this grid of small dots compared to the OLED.
