Desktop SMS....

Hello all - have searched the forum but can't find anything relating to my question:

Is there any way to send SMS messages from a desktop computer via the SPV whilst it is sat in its cradle? this would be a cracking application and surely can't be too difficult to implement?!?!?

I use my SPV to communicate with our field engineers, and the ability to text them from the desktop via the SPV would make life much more straightforward.

If i missed this app, or anything similar, please point me in the right direction!!

many thanks.....

excellent - thanks for the info....

have downloaded and tried to install, but it has failed as i have not unlocked my SPV yet for third party applications.

Have had so many problems with phone, am now on my 4th handset and it is the first one that actually works, that i am reluctant to try unlocking in case i end up with another bu**ered phone :)

Ive not had a single problem with mine other than the dodgy Orange homescreen plugins slowing it down. Did you try with any of your old handsets?

Paul raises a good point. I would also love to have an app (-other than a LapLink type app) that would allow me to send sms' from the desktop. Ideal would be an outlook plugin that would allow the recipients mobile number to be selected as a destination. Anyone?

Incedentally, has the "import windows ce inbox" under the Tools menu in OL2K been brought up? If so has anyone got it working, I just get an "Unable to connect to remote device" error :/

I got the same when I tried to use it. I guess that this part of Activesyncis reserved to PocketPC users. Anyways, inbox syncing is a dodgy one for the spv as the storage space on the phone is severly limited on the phone if you have loads of contacts (I have 1100 and only 1.5megs of storage with no apps installed)

1100 contacts? heheh bet its fun telling all of them when you get a new phone number. Still, it would be nice to be able to have some SMS interoperability with the Outlook inbox.
