Guest EndruBoy Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 (edited) Hello Since I have installed a little modified (some apk removed) JJ RLS5 I can't connect my phone to PC with the (original) USB cabel. It seems like my phone thinks it's only a carger because the charging is working fine from PC. With the original soft it asked me if I want to connect to PC after I plugged the cabel in. It's not happening now. And I don't see it with my Windows 7 at all (all drivers installed). What's wrong or what should I set up? Edited January 14, 2011 by EndruBoy

When you plug it into the PC you should have the USB icon in the notification bar. Open the notification bar and press the "USB Connected" entry and you should then have the option to turn on USB Storage.
Guest EndruBoy Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Thanks, but there is no such notification as I wrote it. Not happens anything on my phone when I plug the cable in except it starts charging.
Guest RussellS Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Thanks, but there is no such notification as I wrote it. Not happens anything on my phone when I plug the cable in except it starts charging. Sorry, I misunderstood. I've just had a look at mine and if the USB plug isn't quite all the way in on the phone then it still reports it is charging but the USB connected icon does not appear. This appears quite critical if using an E71 silicone case like mine as it stops the USB plug going all the way in anyway so it doesn't need to come out much further to disconnect the USB but still remain charging (about 0.5mm). If this is definately not the reason and it is only happening since changing the ROM then perhaps you should just do a nandroid backup of it as it is now and then flash back to a standard ROM and see if it works ok then. That would al least tell you if it is a software issue or not.
Guest EndruBoy Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 (edited) (I can't do that right now because I haven't got a microSD reader. But I have tried to plug in the cable after starting phone with holding volume up and still the PC don't recognise the phone (not doing anything still). So it is a harware issue then? From the clockwork backup which I made before changing the ROM I can do a total restore? And how can I remove ClockWork then, because I may have to take it back to service? Edit: I think I found how to remove ClockWork. So my only question is: the backup which I've made is contains the full ROM or only my applications and settings and I have to download and install the original ROM first?) Edit2: problem solved, my ROM was not good. Restored to the original ROM and works fine. Edited January 14, 2011 by EndruBoy
Guest Coldbird Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 I'm not trying to revive a "old" topic but I think people don't realize how important this is... This basically ruins the whole purpose of the phone for me, as I use it as a music player with PowerAMP... and I use USB for transfering most of my music. The latest Japanese Jellyfish, which I'm running still suffer from the "can't mount USB" problem described here and I love the ROM otherwise... so @Kalt: got a idea whats causing this and could you try fixing it? @Everyone Else: Know a good Froyo ROM which works for USB mounting? I really don't move but if I'm forced to it's not like I've got much choice, guess I will inform myself a bit before deciding on changing.

Guest Coldbird Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 Well if thats the case can you tell me which is your favorite ROM and which you are currently using? I wouldnt mind reflashing it once more if that solves the USB problem... The reason I sticked to JJ for now is that from the bit of testing I did... (3-4 diff roms) it was the only one to properly support my native language.
