Guest rayners Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Hello all, Installed Japanese Jellyfish RLS7 2.2 Froyo and now have 'no service'. Stupidly I forgot to unlock the device first before installing this particular ROM which I believe is a requirement. Even Orange SIM's display no service. Any solution to this or do I have myself an expensive paperweight? Thanks in advance rayners

You will have to ring orange to unbarr the device. As for unlocking. Install one of the custom 2.1. Roms then factory reset and boot Then do the unlock and reinstall the 2.2 rom you wanted

Called Orange to double check who confirm the handset isn't barred. Tried downgrading to 2.1 custom ROMS (de-oranged r8 and stock Orange ROM) but still no service. To prove this point I unlocked first installed Jellyfish on another handset and it works fine? Again, any solution. Thanks in advance.

Ah well then you simply need go back to any normal 2.1 ROM , then put a non Orange SIM in and enter your unlock code http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-and-zte-blade/

I've tried two 2.1 ROMS as mentioned in the previous post. Orange SIM brings up 'no service' and non Orange SIM also brings up 'no service' without even asking for unlock code. I have the unlock code that isn't a problem - the problem is no network service on the phone whatsoever even on Orange. Regards

I've seen a couple of posts regarding loose SIM compartment or contacts on this particular phone, but to the naked eye the pins look fine and the SIM isn't loose. Thanks anyway, much appreciated.
Guest maritimesbob Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Sorry for raising an old topic. My Blade just went the same way, and oddly enough I was running the same rom but it was RLS9. I`m not blaming the rom however, pretty sure the phone has developed a fault as I tried a Vodafone SIM which also displayed (no service). Not sure what happened, I live in an area with poor Orange signal but my girlfriend is on the same network and has signal. My SIM also worked in her phone too. I tried several different roms and downgraded to 2.1, all show no service. Concluded the phone is now a dud and have ordered a new Blade. I really love these phones especially with the ease and level of customisation available on these forums. I was thinking when I first got the Blade, once this phone is done I won`t get another. Today, I now miss my Blade!!
