Camera quality issues with rooted San Francisco

Hi all, I've had my San Francisco for 24 hours and have already been through 3 flavours of ROM, settling at the MoDaCo kitchen-baked 2.2 r8.

I didn't think to check the camera with the original Orange-branded ROM, but on every custom ROM since I've had terrible camera quality - to the point where it's not usable. Having come from a Hero which already had a pretty abysmal camera I wasn't expecting anything better from the Blade/SF but there has to be something wrong here.

The photo below was taken with the default Camera app, but other cameras are the same - Camera360, Camera ZOOM FX, etc.

Is this the "banding" issue that I've seen mentioned, or is this a whole new level of borked?

The device is a TFT model also (boo!) if that makes any bit of difference to anything. Anyone got any suggestions?

Hi,

Is there a BLUE TINT in all of Android?

I think that you have installed a OLED Boot.img on your TFT device.

I think you need to install a ROM that includes a 2.2 Boot.img file.

You probably have exactly the same problem this person had

If that's how the camera saves the image on your SD card (And they look like that on your PC) then its more than likely a faulty camera

Wouldn't have thought screen issues would effect actual taken photos

If the camera is faulty best to send it back / hand it in at an orange store

No, it's normal, full colour in every other use, just like that in the camera. I thought I'd chosen a TFT ROM, but I'll double check!

It displays like that within the camera app viewfinder and then saves like that too. What's the likelihood of Orange being funny about my rooting of the device? I suppose I could go back to an original Orange ROM.

I think you have a hardware fault with your camera

Just checked and it was r8 that I've installed (http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-roms-rom-customisation/324786/oled-tft-14-jan-r8-modaco-custom-froyo-rom-download-online-kitchen/) but there's no mention of it being specific to TFT/OLED. With the rest of the phone colour being fine, should I assume it's not a Boot.img issue?

The whole screen would have a blue tint if it was a boot.img issue.
