As title, I need to send it back and would prefer it to go back totally stock.

Just flash the stock ROM form myadventvega. The search on here works really well too! ;)

Thanks! Tried searching but didn't get much that was relevant - was probably not using the right terms in search. Cheers!

Strange USB problem on Windows 7 Professional:

I got my Vega just before Christmas and have upgraded it to the 1.06.5 image as suggested at http://www.myadventvega.co.uk. I had a lot of bother installing the USB driver on the PC, nothing happened as described in the full update manual, and I eventually had to go digging in the Device Manager to identify the device. It was just reported as Mass Storage, no matter what mode the Vega was in. Having finally installed the Advent supplied USB Bridge driver for the correct device, I managed to to update the system image to 1.06.5.

However, when I try to apply the Modaco USB driver so I can install the ROM image, using the Update Driver mechanism, the system does not recognise the INF file as describing a valid driver, and claims the Windows driver is up to date. Anything I can do to correct this? I have downloaded the files several times and have a reliable internet connection, so I do not think it is a download problem.

Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks for your help, but my problem is that I cannot find any device Like Android Debug Bridge in the usbdeview output.

The only device that appears when I plug the Vega in with USB debugging set is

NVIDIA Tegra 2 USB Device

And that appears in the device manager as:

NVIDIA Android Composite Device.

This will not accept the new Modaco USB drivers as valid.

The other devices with Vendor ID 0955 listed in the usbdeview window are

NVIDIA Boot Recovery Driver for mobile device

and

APX

I cannot find any reference to Android Debug Bridge in either usbdeview or Device Manager. What am I doing wrong?

I had a similar problem, however I restarted the Vega in recovery mode with the USB cable plugged in and Win7 64 bit tried to install USB drivers and failed, this gave me an APX device that needed a driver and I could then browse and install the ones from the myadventvega.co.uk site and then proceeded from there.

Think of it this way. The Vega can act as 2 different USB devices.

When it's running normally and you have USB debugging turned on, it appears as a mass storage device. This device is the one that needs to have the ADB drivers loaded - the one's included in the mcr. This device, with these drivers, are need to install the modaco packs.

When you enter recovery (please remember, you will see nothing on the Vega - not even the backlight) it appears as either APX or NVidia Harmony Recovery. This device needs the drivers from the Advent site.

You cannot mix these drivers. If you try to update one with the other, you will get something along the lines of "this driver does not support your hardware". Which is exactly right.

To update the mass storage device (or any other device that appears in the USB debugging mode, right click the device and uninstall it. Also select "delete the drivers". Then, without doing anything else, right click My Computer at the top of the tree and scan for changes. When the device appears, it should have an exclamation mark. Right click the device and update driver software. Choose the manual options and browse to the drivers from the modaco pack.

The only devices you'll see in recovery are APX or NVidia Harmony Recover Driver. If it's APX, you should be able to go straight to update driver software then browse to the drivers provided by Advent.

Before you try again, use usbdeview to delete ALL the drivers you mentioned in your post.

Good luck

Hope that helps. A couple of good folks on here have provided very detailed how tos, the one by arad85 is the place to start.

Thanks for all the help from the guys on this forum. I have now managed to get the Modaco ROM installed. However, I did not manage to do it using my normal development Windows 7 PC but had to resort to using my laptop. Now I have the ROM installed on the Vega, it looks really good.

I do not not know why I could never see the devices as described, but maybe it is because the pc has a load of built in card readers that all appear in the USB devices list, and also a USB backup drive connected.

I think I had the same problem. I resolved it by removing/ uninstalling the nvdia device and drive from the device manager. I was then able to install the modaco USB driver
