Guest Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 I'm Arbroath mate! ;) What exactly is this program? Only had my Orange SF a few weeks now and new to smartphones...
Guest Fi5h Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) Golly - I'm careful to even add Family and friends to this, let alone complete strangers ;) But you did say '(if they desire)' I also would never publicly give out my gmail address, or anyone for that matter unless it was a forwarder. Maybe I just can't bring myself to be that open Edited January 15, 2011 by Fi5h

Although on my phone it's a separate program, I think it's part of google maps now. It allows you to via gps to see where your friends are.

Guest nedmundo1 Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 How's your battery drainage. I unstalled Maps and Latitude and now easily get 4 days between charges.

I find my battery takes a hit if I'm signed into latitude, but its ok if I'm not - makes sense I guess. I also seem to recall a mention of google maps 5 being at the root of some battery issues. But it seems ok signed out of latitude.
Guest _dg Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 I don't see the point of adding strangers or even most of my fiends. However we have this on a few family phones so that we can see where we are - good for tracking kids - young or old ones. I also do some late night on call work, and this is good for people to see where I am or have been - especially if I am not back when expected. We generally use this set to track by mobile network most of the time, which does not drain the battery, but only gives an approximation of location. When we need accuracy, only then do we use the GPS
