Headphones have suddenly stopped working

Hi I lent my zte headphones to my OH and he used them for his laptop. He wrapped an elastic band to keep a button pressed down so they'd work. He said this was normal.

They've always worked fine on my phone til now, the phone notification bar shows the headset symbol but the music comes out of the speaker.

I wondered if anyone could help

btw I obviously took the band off, the button hasn't stayed depressed either and they work fine on his iPhone and laptop so it must be my phone ;)

Well, for starters, it's generally good practice to not double post within two minutes.

Backseat moderating out of the way...

Have you tried it with a different pair of earphones?

Wow, this is a really unfriendly forum isn't it. I've been using forums for 8 years (must busier than this one) and not come across one like this.

Having said that, it is a useful site with lots of good information, just seems a shame that there are so many "moderators" who are unfriendly to new posters.

Anyway my OH got a new SF so i've stolen his new headphones which work fine. Thanks.

you might notice the unfriendly person has only been here a week. sadly the tone seems to be set and we have to accept the balance of incredibly decent people spending time and energy making roms and answering questions etc with some really crushing netkops.

anyway, get some decent headphones, unless you need the mic its a much better bet. here is a thread from today about earbuds

option two is to get a cheap nokia xpressmusic hands free kit off eba y, they work well, have one myself. though the headphones are a bit crap you can use proper ones instaed with the adapter part.

Threads get lost easily, this forum is just so popular ;)

It does seem odd that the headset icon appears yet the sound comes out of the speaker mind.. Have you got any other headphones / headsets / 3.5" computer speakers? that you can test before buying a new set?
