Is there sound over HDMI? How about HDMI green flickers?

Philips TV here - can't remember the specific model but its an old [3 years] 50" Plasma - I'll update the post soon. Not 1020p but the odd 1366 x 700 (or somthing to that effect) resolution.

Plugging in the Vega gives me a picture with no sound. There are a lot of artifacts (shiny green pixels where black should be.)

Now perhaps its because I'm using a very long HDMI cable as I've yet to test a shorter one (will be soon.)

But out of interst, has anyone got a perfect image with sound over HDMI? Which model tv? Is anyone else having the same issues I have?

Got my Angry Birds running through HDMI to my Sony Bravia TV with sound no probs the quality was good but as the game isn't high definition I wasn't expecting anything spectacular. Once I can get HD material onto the Vega I shall give HDMI a go again ;)

Hi, had the same problem with the HDMI cable that sky gave me. Swapped to another and it was fine. The sky one does work with the sky box though, just not the Vega or the Xbox. Try another cable.

I'd check the manual to see if it's possible to change the definition settings manually. Apparently the Vega outputs 1920 x 1080 at 24fps so you may be able to override what the TV is trying to use for the Vega.

Plugged into my Sony Bravia with HDMI cable and everything works with no adjustments. The only thing is, you do have to have the volume turned up on the Vega. I normally have mine turned down and initially thought I was having a problem, but as soon as I turned it up, the sound was processed through the TV.

I work as a program manager developing set-top box software for consumer electronics. Some TVs HDMI implementations are, to say the least, over zealous... Last week I had 3 experts working across 2 continents working all week to try and figure out why a certain TV is not responding correctly when fed an HDMI signal from one of our latest boxes...

I have an LG 42" HD TV and I've played Angry Birds and Dungeon Defenders, as well as used the iPlayer on my TV and everything works great. Dungeon defenders looks a little blocky on the TV, but other than that, all is good ;)

Thank you all! arad85 - That was my thought, it's a fairly old'ish plasma (not even sure if it supports HDCP). I'll give the HDMI cable a try before notching the issue down to my telly.

Still need to find the model number, might even pop into Currys and try the device on one of hteir tv's to make sure it works. ;)
