Car charger that works - no soldering required!

I bought this set from 7 day shop

http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_in...ducts_id=109935

and this Belkin cable from Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001PGW...ref=oss_product

I've just used the car charger for the first time and was pleased to see it came up charging AC. I used Navigation between the supermarket and home and the battery went up from 84% to 96% on a 10 min journey.

Hope this helps some people who, like me, are a bit nervous of soldering pins!

Why opening a new topic and not posting in an already existing topic?

...Because I couldn't find a topic that recommended a charger that worked and charged AC in a car - only ones that said some chargers didn't. I thought but starting a new topic with a clear title it would save people reading pages and pages of irrelevant stuff looking for an answer.

These adapters look like great value, 1 x car and 1 x mains, (useful as a spare), correct power rating for OSF and only £2.99 delivered!

Have just ordered a set, thanks for the tip! :)

MODS and self appointed 'forum police': Lighten up!

If this post had been buried in one of the current "car mount / charger" threads I may never have found it ;)

I tend to agree in this case. I too would probably have missed this if it was tacked onto the end of a multi-page thread, and there isn't actually a thread dealing specifically with car chargers that deliver AC power.

NB No offence to the mods intended :)

can recommend this - the car charger doesnt detect as USB and you get a reasonable case (choice of colour) for £3.99. Its 0.75 amp and restores the battery while being used by google navigation

http://www.amazon.co.uk/SUPERSTORE-FRANCIS...309&sr=8-40

Plus postage makes it £5.99 ... and then there's the disadvantage of getting that case as well ... ;)

Odd, as on that page it says:

Car Lighter to USB Details

Input: 12VDC~24VDC

Output: 5v--500mA

I bought the £1.50 car charger on it's own from 7dayshop, it looks exactly like the one in the photo for this product & has the same specs. It only charges as if it were a normal usb port, not ac charging.
