Guest K.Rens Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 I'm using Froyo rom r6, first time I insert my original SIM card, but the phone cannot read the contacts on the SIM card. It states that there are no contacts on the SIM card when I import them. Using "Open "Contacts" -> Menu -> Display Options -> "Your google account" -> Tick "All other contacts" => Doesn't work neither... Is there any way for me to read my contacts and my messages (lost those as well) from my SIM card using this rom? Thank you!
Guest Nebbo Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 I had the same problem, never found a solution beyond typing in all my contacts again ;)
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Can you put your SIM into an old phone and export them put to a file somehow - I used an old HTC Diamond to do this. Then you can import them into your Gmail Account - once you have done this just a simple sync will get all your contacts onto your device. Google dont tell you anywhere what the Magic format is of their CSV - it took me a while to work it out. Make a new file with a .csv extension. Copy the first line from below, then simply add all the contacts you need into the format of the 2nd line Most Spreadsheet programs will let you open the CSV and edit it. Then just import the file into Google Contacts (selecting a group when you do it) - I suggest a new group. Given Name,Family Name,Nickname,E-mail 1 - Type,E-mail 1 - Value,Phone 1 - Type,Phone 1 - Value,Phone 2 - Type,Phone 2 - Value,Phone 3 - Type,Phone 3 - Value Steven,Harper,Steven Harper,* ,,Home,010000000,Mobile,+44799999999,Work,010000000

Guest K.Rens Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Thank you, I managed to find the problem, it was my old sony ericsson who told me the contacts where on the SIM, while they were on the phone. I copied them to the SIM and was then able to transfer my contacts. For the messages I had to save the messages from the inbox into the saved messages folder, and then it was automatically placed on the SIM card. Thank god Android is much clearer in this then Sony. Pfieuw, finally a good phone :-) No data lost :-)
