Guest um110030 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Hello folks, quick question for some of you experts out there. I had Paul frpyo build which seemed to work ok but the screen kept locking. I then installed the japanese jellfish RLS4, this worked ok but the screen would freeze about 5/6 times a day. Today I installed the Japanese jellyfish RLS7 rom and the screen just wouldn't unlock. I've then tried Paul Fryo R7, screen wouldn't work, I've now gone back to the orange stock rom and the screen still doesn't work. If I call orange will they replace it even if I have unlocked the phone/flashed it? Does anyone have any ideas about what else I can try? Many thanks!

I assume it doesn't stay black or you couldn't have switched to Paul's R7. Did you wipe after switching ROMs? Edited January 16, 2011 by jurrasstoil
Guest That-Guy Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Are you clearing Data and Cache when installing each ROM?
Guest um110030 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Are you clearing Data and Cache when installing each ROM? The screen doesn't work anymore so I can't go beyond the lock screen and yes I have been cleared data and cache between each rom installation
Guest Matthew Ferguson Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 The screen doesn't work anymore so I can't go beyond the lock screen and yes I have been cleared data and cache between each rom installation Does clockwork work?
Guest um110030 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Does clockwork work? Yes, I can still get into clockwork
Guest redbaron51 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Yes, I can still get into clockwork Then follow the advice given by That-Guy: Are you clearing Data and Cache when installing each ROM?
Guest um110030 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Then follow the advice given by That-Guy: Are you clearing Data and Cache when installing each ROM? I've tried it several times, the roms I'm installing seem to install ok, then I clear cache/data and reboot but the screen just seems non responsive, the roms I am using are TFT/OLED, I have the TFT version so this should be ok. Does anyone else have a non-responsive screen?

Guest um110030 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 just to be clear, you use both wiping options, right? Clear cache AND factory reset. Yes, I've just reinstalled the Orange stock ROM. Did a factory reset, then cleared cache, installed Oracle Stock, did another factory reset, then cleared cache and the screen is still stuck! I've called myself, the call comes through but I can't answer it because the screen is still stuck! arghhh! Any ideas? one last thing, the jellyfish rom that I download seems to be 76MB and not the 115MB quoted on the developers download page, is anyone else having the same issue? I'm still trying the orange stock rom for now!

Guest Swimmerboy Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 What is it that's not working - the screen showing things, or the capacitive touch screen not accepting/reacting to input?
Guest isambard Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 sounds like a dead digitiser. i have this on one of my phones too. try taking the back case off and squeezing the sides. does this 'unfreeze' it?
Guest _amano Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 (edited) I'd try a TPT ROM. The hungarian one, the volcan or preferably the Jellyfish RLS 7 one. That should wipe all stuff on the lowest possible level (even repartition). And there isn't much left to try as an alternative. Edited January 16, 2011 by _amano

The screen shows the lock screen but I can't drag the unlock button over to the right so I can't get into the phone menus/home screen

Tried that but it didn't seem to make any difference. Dare I ask if there is a fix for a dead digitiser? :-)
Guest jurrasstoil Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Tried that but it didn't seem to make any difference. Dare I ask if there is a fix for a dead digitiser? :-) yep, replace it ;)
Guest caterpillar Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 yep, replace it :D Had the same problem, flashed the stock rom on to it and the orange man came the next day and took it away ;) But he replaced it with an oled screen sf, 01 build :) Thought they had stopped producing the oled screen sf's ;)

I have a few new messages that appear in the notifcaion bar but I can't read them as I can't access the phone, I've put the sim into other phones but the new messages don't appear so I assume they are on the phone memory and not the sim card, is there anyway I can access them?

Count yourself lucky. I cant unlock the screen and I cant install Clockwork Mod Recovery either! I am completely stuffed! I just want to get the Orange Stock ROM back on there so I can at least take it back!

Have you tried just calling them, I rang them and she said she ran a diag on it and it came back faulty, how would they tell if its got a custom rom on it? Worth a shot?
