Background Colour on Clock Plugin

Hi all

I want to have the date and time at the bottom of my homescreen (which I can do quite succesfully)

However, I have noticed that the top Icon bar (which is white on a black backgorund) is really easy to read (even when the backlight is off) and so I would like the clock plugin to show as white on a black background as well.

I tried this:

But when I do this the home screen will not even appear in the list of availbale home screens.

If I take out the bgtext portion, it will work ok (with White text) so I know it's the background that's the problem

I also tried this:

But that didn't work either (again the home screen didn't even appear)

Can anyone help me out with my syntax here ??? :?:

Paul, your first example looks pretty much the same as what i've used in the past, looks ok. Think there maybe a problem else where in your .xml, if you post all of it i'll have a look for you (i am still on a learning curve tho) & i'm sure the other guys here will be more than happy to help.

If I remove the bgtext="COLOR_MENUTEXT" phrase then it works OK (with white text), but with this phrase (or others similar) then the Homescreen will not appear in th elist of availble screens (so I assume it thinks there is a problem with it)

Any advice greatly received
