Guest nre Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 I'm using the customised Bladevillain ROM, but dislike the devilish boot logo which was embedded into the boot.img of the ROM Kindly, forum member XYZK has provided me with his updated boot.img with the logo removed, but I just wanted to seek advice on installing this. Can I just update the boot.img, or do I need to repackage the boot.img into the original ROM zip file and reflash the whole lot? Ideally I'd like to maintain my phone setup rather than start from scratch with a whole ROM reflash... If I can just update the boot.img, do I do this via fastboot as per doing the clockworkmod install? Or do I put it into a noncompressed zip file and install via clockwork? I will of course do a backup in clockworkmod before anything else... Ta for the help...
Guest Arr Too Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Flash it via fastboot (or even do it on the phone itself using flash_image).
Guest Swimmerboy Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Cheers R2, will give it a try... Yea, I'd put it on the sdcard as 'boot.img' then fire up a terminal emulator on the phone, or run adb shell and use the command: "flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img"
