Guest -Blue- Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) I have a Desire rooted on stock 2.2. I have BusyBox installed and I am trying to run MetaMorph to change the themes. The problem I have is the System folder is showing 250Mb 0 free, so MetaMorph can't write the files it requires. On another forum they said to move some apps from System\Apps to Data\Apps. This worked fine, and the apps worked fine, except the folder still showed 250Mb 0 Free and on reboot they all returned to System\Apps folder. So now I have the moved apps on the phone twice, once in each folder The question is, how do I free up some space in the Systems folder that wont be 'adjusted back' on the next reboot. I am very new to rooting, but I am keen to learn. Also I understand that the Systems folder is not a true folder but more like a partition on a PC, if I am correct I would appreciate any help or direction you can offer - thanks Edited January 17, 2011 by -Blue-
Guest bpivk Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) You either need: - S-OFF (google alpharev) to move the files or - do it through adb in recovery (you can use a GUI like qtadb or similar) The apps return because they aren't really moved to /data because you don't have S-OFF. It just seems that way until you reset the phone. Edited January 17, 2011 by bpivk

Just had a look at alpharev and qtadb, I just need to decide the next step. It took me a week before I had the guts to root the phone, so it will probably just as long for S-OFF (I don't want to lose my Desire). I hate these steep learning curves when you are new to something. Thanks once again for the clear reply.
Guest bpivk Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) @-Blue-: You don't need to use alpharev if you don't want too. You can use the tool I've mentioned and move the files through clockwork. The tool uses adb but gives you a nice graphic user interface. Or you can use adb commands. Edited January 17, 2011 by bpivk
