Guest v1nsai Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) I keep getting the above error message, in full the message is /bin/e2fsck -y /dev/block/innersd0p6 file system check returned status 1024, e2fsck status was 4 Please return this device to the manufacturer for debugging This happens at the Dell Logo, and when it does boot everything is gone, it's like I did a factory reset. A lot of my apps were acting funny before this happened, it sounds like I need to reformat /dev/block/innersd0p6, which from what I've found it seems to be the /data partition which also explains why my apps and data vanished ;) . Does anyone know a simple way to get this reformatted or anything else that might explain why this is happening? I'll keep posting my progress I'm home sick today so at least I have something to keep me busy now >.< EDIT All the partition options are in Clockwork, I'm gonna start nuking things then we'll see what happens. I need to make sure streakdroid will replace anything I nuke hehe Edited January 17, 2011 by v1nsai

Guest v1nsai Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 sounds like dead sdcard to me If I'm understanding correctly, there are 2 sdcards in the streak, one which is mounted at /sdcard and the other which is where /system /data etc. Are stored. This is the latter, so fixing it is a simple matter of voiding the warranty and taking it apart to replace the card. I guess it could be worse......

I guess it could be worse...... yes there are 2 SD's on the streak, one is 2gb and the other one is whatever you put in or the standard 16gb or 32gb. I had some issues before with my internal SD but mine showed a different error in clockworkmod, was a bad microSD at the end check here for the error. my solution was this check here for the teardown. Took the microSD out Formatted with a nikkon (But own a CANON :) ) dslr then, put back in (you can use a brand new one if you like, make sure you format it before I used a camera because it didn't ask me much stuff and it just works and I had one at the time.) load a nandroid of a 2.1 backup (I used adb for restoring nanroid bkp) installed steve's 1.1.1. (I think partitions are made in this step) formatted the partitions on clockwork mod (cache, system, data, dalvik, pretty much all but SD and SD EXT) installed steve's 1.1.1 ***note: i had to do this 4 steps a coulpe of times because I couldn't pinpoint which way worked best but I think this particular ORDER should do it, perhaps loading the nandroid backup is not needed, but that's what I've done. reboot pray some, get a snack, cookies or watch some youtube in the mean time while you wait for that dell logo to show the halo lights :D Takes some time to boot up, not more than 10min. (its way less but just to be sure). Hope that helps you, remember that opening the streak will void your warranty unless you are a Beta user like myself ;) Edited January 18, 2011 by brokenpixel
Guest v1nsai Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Great thanks for the rundown brokenpixel my next question was going to be how to repartition. This should be an easy fix, gives me an excuse to pop this thing open too, I been wondering if changing the capacitive buttons color was doable. Blue would look way cooler :-D

Blue would look way cooler :-D you don't need to part your micro sd, the system will format the way it needs it ! in fact, I'd say before trying all those installs, try the easy way : juste swap the internal card (if you are replacing it with a no bigger than 2 GB of course) and make a hard reset. the hard reset should partition the new micro sd by itself !
Guest PipoXtreme Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) Is there no way to just reset the intern sd card without to extract the streak ?! Is it not possible just to reformat the sdcard ?! and ... yes there are 2 SD's on the streak, one is 2gb and the other one is whatever you put in or the standard 16gb or 32gb. Guest kwenteen Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Is there no way to just reset the intern sd card without to extract the streak ?! Is it not possible just to reformat the sdcard ?! that's done by a hard reset, you even can do it "manually" in clockwork mod by using in the option format /data and format /cache, which are the 2 partitions in the innersd ... but if the card's dead, you're stuck with the good old opening-replacing card... it's really not that hard, you only need a special screwdriver for torx screws, and the plastic tools usually used to open iphounes and other ipoods ! good luck and boujou bien ! K.
Guest PipoXtreme Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) But think my card isn't dead @ the moment. It comes with this error just sometimes. Maybe I do a reboot and then just after the start this error come up. But @ moment it runs again .. I don' t know... Edited January 18, 2011 by PipoXtreme

Maybe I do a reboot and then just after the start this error come up. But @ moment it runs again .. I don' t know... So I'd say if it's not dead, it's at least dying ! ;) :) In this case, you can try to use it 'till the end, and once it won't respond at all, then you'll have to replace it... no hurry ! maybe you could do a nandroid on the /data and /cache parts while it's still working, so once you swap the old one, you'll be able to get back your old settings ! boujou bien K.
Guest PipoXtreme Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 is it maybe possible to format the sd intern with the terminal ? how it will be possible ?
Guest brokenpixel Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 To add to the issue, sometimes when you drop the streak or it gets bumped into "something" the internal sd moves a little bit and looses contact, there are cases where you only need to take out / put in the card many times so it makes contact again and it fixes the problem. Also I did a research on the stock internal sd card that they used and was a crappy Samsung one so I didn't really hesitate to swap it for a better one. Its not a bad idea to swap for a new/better one if you are already open it up and 2GB microSD are pretty cheap, or you can just go on with kwenteen's boot.img and use a SDHC instead.
Guest PipoXtreme Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) Hi guys I`ve done it now - Change of microSD in my Streak to a new 2 GB card- Now my question : @ the beginning after changing I done factory reset and clear the caches as well ! Is it correct that I`ve just to flash again the baseband file to my streak with fastboot ?! (this here) from the end of first post . Then I`ve to go to the adb and just reinstall my backup from nandroid - is this correct ?? Edited January 18, 2011 by PipoXtreme

Then I`ve to go to the adb and just reinstall my backup from nandroid - is this correct ?? here is the link for 1.1.1 if you want to try my way http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=15&category=1 you have to flash the baseband if you are upgrading from 2.1 to steve's 1.4.6 or above, if you use 1.1.1 you don't need to upgrade the baseband, unless you're coming from 1.6. Hope that helps
Guest PipoXtreme Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) there was nothing on my new microSD card.. then I flash the baseband from steves 1.Post and now it runs.. with my backup from nandroid great ;) I hope I don`t forget something.. but with flash the baseband and reinstall my adb backup it works... But I have to say its really simple to change the intern memory :) Edited January 19, 2011 by PipoXtreme
Guest Fone_Fanatic Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I had a similar error but i couldn't even get into recovery. It would just sit at the initial dell logo. I put the device in fastboot and via fastboot attempted to reflash all partitions but one of them just wouldn't (i think it was system). So i called up dell and they sent me a new one ;)
