Hi all,

I have finally received the mugen 4800 mah battery and the dreaded battery life have gone away from my head.

However this is replace with a protection case as no manufacturer have created a case for this extended battery as yet.

I just hope there is a big enough market for someone to create it and hopefully it is from Melkco since it has a belt clip

I love my Melko Dell Streak Leather Flip Case as it has a belt clip that I use on the slim battery (thinking of selling it now)

HELP anyone. Would a silicon case fit the mugen 4800 battery by stretching it out? (as a temporary measure)

I hope manufacturers take notes and create one and also INSERT A BELT CLIP

I'd buy one of these batteries in a second, but there is no way in heck I'm giving up my Otterbox Defender. If Otter and Mugen would get together, they'd have one helluva product ;)

why don't you cut a rectangle in a cheap silicon case of the size of your mugen battery, and glue this rectangle to the top of your mugen battery with some non permanent glue (was thinking of using hot glue maybe) ?

This way it might not be THAT ugly, just a way to protect your device for 3 bucks, waiting for a better solution ! ;)

boujou bien,

K.

ps: I just checked the internet... 129 $ for it ? is that the real price ???? ouch !

Good idea as a temporary measure

which silicon case is good amzer, otterbox or generic on ebay?

$129 is expensive, but you can use a discount code 5off2010 to get 5% off and free delivery. It has been worth every penny though, I am getting 3 days intensive used such as youtube, wireless, blutooth, phone, music etc

I don't think it is a good idea to buy such battery. You could always buy a mobile external battery/box that can charge your streak, it is cheap and portable.

This is like carrying 3 batteries, but without the hassle of changing batteries out, id cut up a OB Impact case, its the thickest silicone/rubber case you can buy. Only $20, not too much compared to the cost of the battery. If the battery was like $70, id consider buying one.

I bought the $5 generic silicon skin for the cut out back battery test yesterday. Will keep you inform how it goes when I receive it.

I don't think it's a good idea to get one of these. I bought one, and a drop of less than 3 feet (onto carpeting) broke all the plastic tabs off the replacement battery door and "broke" the battery. The battery seems fine, but no longer makes proper contact with the "door" sensor, so I can't boot my Streak using the extended battery.

Additionally, the battery gauge on the Streak gets confused by this battery. It often will not charge to 100%, and it also shows 1% power when there is still charge in the battery.

Overall, I think that the product should be a LOT more polished and robust for the money that it costs.

Now I've got a standard sized "spare" replacement battery that I can swap if I run low on power. It's not ideal, it fits in the case, and the spare battery cost me $15 online.

I amm still waiting for the cheapo $5 case to arrive to test it.

You are right Dave, the stock Battery meter does not pick up the battery usage properly. It would go down to 5% and an hour later goes back up to 40% etc. Hence, I don't really know when it is fully drain unless it turn off itself which I think is not good for the battery.

Overall though, the extra 2 days is worth it but yes, more QA on this battery would be nice.

Also I am wondering if there are any third party battery meters that detects it probably or is it part of the Hardware bios itself?

I also dropped mine and experienced the same thing. However, I found that the reason it was not detecting the door was not due to the battery not making a connection but rather that the phone also has sensors where those plastic tabs that broke off snap into place and, because they were no longer there, did not detect a door as being attached. Luckily, Mugen had sent a spare door so I am now using that one and it's working fine. Have you tried this?

Sorry for delay guys but the $5 silicon case back battery cutoff does not work. The entire structure holding the phone becomes very lose and it was not strong from the start anyway.

Couple with the fact that it makes it harder to insert and remove the phone from your side pocket due to the rubbery sticking to your pant.

Recent check for a leather case that support belt clip that support mugen 4800 mah yield nothing.

I may consider selling the mugen 4800 mah and getting the mugen 1800 mah. Anyone experience with the mugen 1800 mah before I pull the trigger and buy it?

Currently only two leather cover that support the standard size battery are Piel Frama and Melkco which support belt clips. Any experience with the Piel Frama, the Melko I currently have and it is working fine but the Piel seem to be a more sturdier good looking case

HELP if anyone knows if there exist a case for Mugen 4800mah-with Belt Clip would be a bonus

I feel like I may drop the phone soon unprotected and with the huge battery, it would not be a pretty site.

On a side note, I usually also trust battery from worcell ( www.worcell.com ) but they have a dell streak battery at 1500 mah????? are they for real selling a lower spec battery than the original dell streak. Anyone selling battery => 2600 mah dell streak battery standard size will get my sale.
