Guest James Seaward Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 I just installed Theft Aware 2.0 as a trial yesterday. Turns out that Deutsche Telecom AG, which is the German T-Mobile, volunteered to pay for the full license for me. It all happened automatically as part of the install process. They are running this promotional offer from 5th - 19th Jan. I'm not sure whether I qualified because I'm with T-Mobile or whether it's for everyone. If you're thinking about installing Theft Aware, doing it today or tomorrow may save you £10. James
Guest Rotmann Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 How did this happen mate? Could you describe the process with more details? On what T-Mobile network are you?
Guest Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 How did this happen mate? Could you describe the process with more details? On what T-Mobile network are you? Did it yesterday! Insert a T-Mobile Xtra-Card and installed Theft Aware, it automatically detects that you are using a T-Mobile SIM, asked about your email address and sent you an email with the serial number and invoicing details of 0.00 €. Works perfectly! alpinestars

Guest Nebbo Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Thanks very much James. FYI everyone, you need to wait until the final stage of the setup where it detects the SIM after the install before it gives you a free licence

It has detected my settings etc. I have also setup PIN, but it says Trial - 7DAYS left. When I click on Activate licence it says no valid licence found and asks me to buy one for EUR 9.99

Guest Rotmann Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 To all the people who could not make it. Maybe there is a 3G/2G connection needed to activate the program?
Guest Niks10 Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 To all the people who could not make it. Maybe there is a 3G/2G connection needed to activate the program? Ok, having failed earlier I finally managed to get full version. Here is what I did. I am a T-mobile UK PAY MONTHLY customer. Download it using the QR code here: http://www.facebook.com/TopApps?v=app_118827704853728 Once you finish downloading via 3G/GPRS and go to install don't select the device is rooted option. Proceed to install and it will eventually ask for your e-mail address, which I did and then received the licence by e-mail. A great freebie.

I did that but it still doesn't pop up asking for my email address :/

Guest isambard Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 can anyone who downloaded via 3G/GPRS give the md5sum of the install file? just want to check if the actual download is different? thanks.
Guest redbaron51 Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 can anyone who downloaded via 3G/GPRS give the md5sum of the install file? just want to check if the actual download is different? thanks. It worked for me (still on my last £1.64 credit with Virgin UK PAYG). Basically I followed the wizard, installing the apps, removing the setup files and allowing Theft Aware Admin rights to wipe device if needed. Not sure how good this apps is though ;)
Guest Rotmann Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 It's the best when it comes to recovering your phone. Look.
Guest dwl99 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 It's the best when it comes to recovering your phone. Look. Tried this with a T-Mobile PAYG & downloaded via wifi - only got a 7 day trial licence. How do I remove the app?
Guest oldfella Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 if its rooted try uninstall with titanium backup
Guest shovon Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 One thing I don't get is how do you intiate and access the maps to see where your phone is located if you have lost it? Unlike, Wavesecure, there appears to be no internet control? So the only way to access the map is with another smart phone?
