Guest brownian Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Hi, I upgraded from a Nokia 5230 because the battery was withering despite being off/sleeping/buried in lead lined bunker. After visiting this site I bought the Blade, thank you. Now I am faced with replacement batteries being much dearer, ie £15 instead of £3 (for the Nokia 5230). Will this problem be sorted as the device matures and saturates the market or is this a common problem with non-Nokia batteries and parts? I'm considering just financing my mobile dongle and selling the phone now that it is not even the cheapest way to get online anymore!

Personally I would buy a portable power pack instead of a spare battery. Something like this

Guest Stryke69 Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 May I ask where you saw the spare battery for £15?
Guest landwatcher1 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 May I ask where you saw the spare battery for £15? I will have more for the coming days. And also the genuine desk charger and battery pack.
Guest MrPuddington Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 i have seen this one and you get a battery with it for £20 battery power pack and its for OSF This does not come with a UK plug, hm? Anyway, as devices mature, you will typically find more of these offers. And since so many SF are being sold, I am sure there will be a market for all kinds of accessories (usually of very mixed quality).
Guest brownian Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I suppose they can only get cheaper, the current rate on ebay is robbery, but where else can one turn? My second choice for replacing my 5230 was the LG Optimus GT540, because ZTE has a miniscule market share LG can supply batteries for half the (best) £15 price, ie £8. But Nokia has a monopoly and can supply for £3, probably £4 at my local market. I think it is time to spread word of the miracle of the ZTE Blade bargain. At least my chunky tab can be rewired with a Maplin's off the shelf battery. What happens to the battery as it ages? I had my Nokia 5230 on (on 3G) more or less constantly when awake for 6 months and it began to die after just eight hours on standby or off upon removing from the charger. T-mobile thought I was using it as a mobile broadband dongle!
Guest dav_dako Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 This does not come with a UK plug, hm? Copied from their listing - All of our products offer European, Australia and UK Power Adapter. Depend on which region you are coming from. Hope that helps. Not bought one btw, but might be tempted to.
Guest rbbrslmn Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 i have seen this one and you get a battery with it for £20 battery power pack and its for OSF 1000mAh is pretty poor, the battery would be lucky to last the day.
