Guest Morris Lee Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I am working on an Acer Liquid dock, it is fully functional at the moment, not exactly visually appealing at where I joined the connector and the bottom plate. the parts you would need if you want to make your own are: - Old ipod with the thicker back metal casing - Mini USB cable(the one that Acer Liquid uses) below are the pictures, as you can see, the joint looks "weak" but it is not, however, I want something to hang on to the phone while it is docked so all the stress is not delivered to just the connector(even though that is how most docks are designed to be for iphones etc). SO!! I need idea on how to finish it off, and possibly a good material or spare part from some type of container to cover up the ugliness of the joint.
Guest skaffer Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 so you have all the weight on the connector...i can see connector issues in your future good effort tho
Guest monoxide.tryst Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 so you have all the weight on the connector...i can see connector issues in your future good effort tho I have to agree 100%, get something on there to support that thing !!!1
Guest Morris Lee Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 so you have all the weight on the connector...i can see connector issues in your future good effort tho I think I have a solution, but i may need to run to the hardware store, hehe Use 2 concaved wheels on 2 bars with tensions toward each other, being concave, they will keep the phone's edge center to the wheel which keeps it from rocking forward and back.
Guest HustlinDaily Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I like the idea of making a dock yourself. You know what would kick ass, a landscape dock. And that way there won't be so much stress on the connector. Might be tougher to make tho.
Guest HustlinDaily Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Something like this with Mini USB instead of Micro- http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/cell-accessories_2137_439734819
Guest Koki1337 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Great idea! Don't you think a prop at the back of the phone would be more secure for the phone?
Guest kristophe Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Here's mine... Hand made from "Dessine-moi un objet.com" template_iphonepaper.pdf Paperdock for Iphone, but fits perfectly for ou Acer liquid phone. Need some adjust if you want plug usb cable. I did mine with strong paper, "carton", also plastic. Show me your try...
Guest Lens_flare Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Where to find old ipod buy new and dis-ass-sem-ble? This is not cheap method!

There is no need for an old ipod as it was just one of the part I have gathered a few years back

Maybe I should attach a kickstand to my silicone case and attach a USB cable (then it pretty much is like a ghetto landscape dock lol).
