The T-mobile roaming onto Orange, has anyone got this working properly on the San Fran?

Mine definately isn't roaming onto Orange at all. I've tried the settings they told me over the phone, but I just wondered if anyone had got it working properly, or if I need to adjust my phone somehow, or if it just doesn't work.

I followed through with all the sign up, so I should be able to do it. It just doesn't want to do it anyway. Even if i can't use data browsing or whatever that's fine, but i need to get this roaming set up and working so i can atleast do calls.

Thanks!

i take it you have enabled roaming in settings/wireless and networks/mobile networks/data roaming

Works a treat, has done with various roms.

Only hassle was sending the "Yes" text.

Their system was down... "please try later" ... for 24 hours ...

Just wondering ... when new, did you "activate" the phone onto Orange?

I had it working on my Desire and assumed it would still work on my San Fran. It didn't. Res-signed up and it works again. Maybe you should try signing up again for it on T-Mobile site.

I can't see any option of roaming at all in settings/wireless and I have set the data roaming onto allow yes

The first time I've signed up for this is on this sim, new in this mobile.

Works for me however what it doesnt do properly is switch back to T-Mobile as soon as theres signal. It only ever switches when I have no signal on whatever Im currently connected to. With no 3G on Orange yet, this is a royal pain in the ass so I've locked it to T Mobile for now.

2g works flawlessly.. Yet it is annoying when you drop full bars orange signal for a 1bar tmobile signal that drops strait away ;)

Can't wait for 3g roaming

Doesn't work for me, never has done even tho registering for the service went fine, I also redid the reg a few weeks back but no joy, roaming is enabled.

I can register/switch to Orange, logo comes up and the signal with the 'R' for roaming ....but as soon as you dial a number at the point of connection it just closes/ends, texting wont work either also my SF can receive calls or texts....its the exact same on the wife's SF. I need to haul out the battery and fart about with it going back onto T-mob till eventually the mobile works again, its a weird one, I should really phone T-Mob about it.

You aren't running the stock rom, are you?

Jellyfish perhaps?

I've just put on flb-froyo-blade-r6

Unfamiliar territory for me.

Believed heading towards AOSP, but borrowing assorted bits from Chinese (and Japanese?) 2.2 roms.

I don't know how well roaming works on it (or how/whether it is controlled).

But it has its own thread for looking out such details.

I'm currently running Jellyfish, and having set "automatic" network selection, it roams happily from T-Mobile to Orange.

But (different from all the 2.1's I've run), it doesn't seem to have a voice/sms roaming control ... but it does have some odd Japanese roaming stuff still in place (but not used)!

The roaming works from me from T-Mo to Orange.

BUT ... you have to have no signal for it to switch to the other network. When the other network re-appears, even if it's stronger it doesn't switch back until the network which you are roaming on disappears.

NOTE: It doesn't keep roaming between the strongest, it just switches when the one you are using disappears.

I'm not sure however how it chooses which one to return back onto when the signal returns. I *think* that if you had roamed onto Orange, and then signal goes ... if both T-Mo and Orange signal return, then it would stay on Orange. But if T-Mo were available marginally before, it would move back to T-Mo.

:/ If you've never done this changing roms ever before, you've got no idea which one to pick. Throw a dart at the list of names and say you'll do comes to mind. I just want 1 rom that does what it says on the box i.e. works. </gripe>

Frankly, i'll give anything a go to get something to roam ;) I love this phone, but it's a bit like a new puppy. There's just so many icky bits to do before you get to that loving companion that will last you for a good few years! (in my case, i change phones not as often as leap years come around)
