Guest crml Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 This is slightly different to the usual blue screen problems. Once or twice a day, the top half of my (OLED) screen will be tinted blue with the blue flickering. This can last for a few hours sometimes and then it goes back to normal. I've tried several different ROMs but the problem won't go away. At this stage, I think it's probably a hardware issue. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks.
Guest Lasse-hatten Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I have the same problem. It started like yours, on and off, but now it's there all the time. Not half the screen, though, maybe one quarter.

Same problem here. The display was good for about 5 months but few days ago it started to flicker a little. Now the screen flickers all the time and it is very hard to watch. But I'm afraid it is a hardware error :D See the photo of flickering display
Guest domenico lamberti Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) same here guys, the only way it seems to stop it is for the phone to get hotter, i overclocked my blade and when it gets to about 35 degrees it ggoes back to normal , and mine is rather bad, there is less than a millimeter that is normal now , its eating my screen whatever it is *******UPDATE********* my digitizer broke, so i went and got a replacement panel and when i went to the shop to pick it up they told me my OLED panel underneath had cracked aswell , the blue flickering on the screen means you have a clacked OLED/LCD panel beneath and the reason it goes back to normal when hot it because the glass touches and goes back together for a little while Edited March 28, 2011 by domenico lamberti
Guest Denzo Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I just noticed this problem with my San fran, the upper third or so of the screen starts flickering blue and then at one point it stays blue, I rebooted once and it went away, but soon came back. I thought it was a launcher issue or maybe rom, but now as I read this it seems its hardware. The thing is I have no idea how could I have cracked the OLED panel underneath, as I treated the phone pretty well, had no accidents or anything that could have caused any damage. How did you guys solve this problem? I am not from UK so I cant easily get it fixed through warranty. Did replacing the OLED panel and the digitizer solve it? I sincerely hope there is another way. Please help.

Guest Denzo Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Well I think the problem is limited to OLED panels, so maybe the LCD is still better and LCD has its advantages too. I just hope there was a way to fix it, cos I cant travel back to UK to get it replaced, nor I have anyone there to rely on. Do you happen to know how much does a new panel cost? Is it hard and risky to try and replace it yourself or is a shop still a safer bet? Also I read someone mentioning in other topic, that toasting the phone (without plastic parts on it) in the oven might help, I know people were toasting their graphic cards. I wonder if anyone fixed this without exchanging it for new one or buying new parts...
Guest kokoki Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Damn! I've been having this problem, too. A couple of reboots seemed to work, but now it looks like the problem is back for good. I've only got my ZTE for 2 months, and it really really sucks. I will try to go see if I can get a replacement or anything from my operator's service, but I'm not very optimistic.

Well I have lcd phone and mine has started doing this also so it's not just old pannel that has this. I am really peed off. Should I just get it replaced under warrenty and do I need to go back to stock rom before I do?

Should I just get it replaced under warrenty and do I need to go back to stock rom before I do? Unfortunately I didn't get a notification when you asked. I did flash it back to stock everything, as much as I could (stock rom, hide/remove clockwork and splash image etc). Then I took it to the service center, and they (pretended they) didn't see anything bad firmware wise, so they replaced the screen. Good luck!
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 I had this issue for a few weeks, but it seems to have gone now. Famous last words.
Guest rwalton159 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 I've experienced this today when I was out in the garage. After 10mins in the house the phone was okay?
Guest JudasLucifer Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 I've experienced this today when I was out in the garage. After 10mins in the house the phone was okay? I suppose it *could* be a heat thing. I've still got it, it comes and goes every so often (seconds, minutes, hours, days) "randomly" Nothing you can really do to stop it afaik
Guest WAWA72 Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Make your Blade warm at the touchscreen side, the flickering get of to normal? Test it, few weeks ago, i hade a blade with the same problem. i could not repair ist, but the trick with the heat has work.
Guest rog8811 Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) At last I have tracked down some info about this problem! I have been looking, on and off, for days the only thing I found was this on YouTube. The replies are "I replaced my mother board" and " I phoned Orange for a replacement". The original you tube poster never said what he did. Warming the phone made the flicker go away but the blue colouring still remained in the top 1/4 of the screen. The phone is now in a warm place to soak, to see if it improves it more... this can only be a temporary fix of course. *Edit* Having left the phone on my modem for half an hour I find the blue has gone, so as long as I keep it warm I should be ok..... <_< Do the experts here think that replacing the LCD screen will be the answer or is it likely to be a waste of time and money?
