Guest rpmccormick Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 OMG, that is totally lame and ingenious at the same time. It makes sense for a device without WiFi, but adding a second WiFi reciever just to have a samba share act like a USB key is sooo silly. Can some linux guy please figure out how to mount a share so Android thinks it is local and post the console commands here? Then everyone could just use Gscript to run it.

I think you've got it backwards - the media stick plugs into the usb port on your telly and allows you to stream files FROM the android device. I can't see it working the other way round as it looks like an app is required to control what files/folders the tv sees on the usb stick. As regards mounting samba shares, we need the kernel source code so we can compile the required kernel modules, which aren't currently included. No console commands will work until we have those.

When are 'we' (by we I mean you, obviously, cos they'd be no use to me ha ha) going to get them?
Guest dadaniel Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 This also works with UIM from http://www.infinitec.com in nearly the same way.
