No but its akward to enter the keys last time I had to do it at my cousins house it took 4 attempts to get the right key and then pair it to the router.

Mine works fine with WEP - I only found it hard to put the key in the first time I had it because I couldn't wait to use it so was trying to connect while it was charging up, if your doing this either disconnect it from the mains to do it or plug in a usb cable to a pc - this gets rid of the double key press issues with the power supply.

worto.

The Vega will not recognize WEP and do adhoc together (if you hacked the wpa supplicant), it should be fine with a regular router though.

Mine would no longer connect to my WEP wi-fi once I'd done the adhoc patch with r4 but as soon as I reflashed it with the latest firmware from myadventvega and applied the r6 rom from here then repatched it with the wpa_supplicant patch it now connects to both my WEP connection and my adhoc wifi on the nokia E51.

I tested switching from one to the other several times last night.

Just the usual advent vega rom with the R6 add on and performance pack.

It's definately much friendlier with WPA, have you tried switching the routers security to WPA its a much easier to use and more importantly secure way to keep your wireless safe WEP is easy to crack. Some routers have default WEP but can be changed to update/upgrade security in the router set up page you can just google the router for instructions.

Sorry I don't think I was quite clear.

The Vega will do WEP and WPA to infrastructure networks.

Patching the wpa_supplicant will allow adhoc networking BUT I have yet to be able to connect to an adhoc network and have WEP enabled.

(something I would like when tethering to my Nokia N8)

The Nokia does not support bluetooth PAN and the Vega does not have ppp in the kernel so I can't tether with bluetooth either.

Roll on the kernel source, cheers.

Ah - I'm with you now - I thought you were saying that applying the patch would stop the vega connecting to any WEP networks in future - would be nice to have some security on the adhoc network I must admit.

Hi yeah I agree wap is a lot safer,I was using wep but when I first got the vega it had a custom rom installed (I was told it was the cyanogen rom) and I could not get the vega to connect to the net with wep so I changed it to wap and it connected no problem, since I installed the 1.6 fw and r6 it now seems fine with wep so I have went back to wep because my daughters laptop didn't like wep and a touchscreen jukebox had trouble streaming video with wap.
