Guest matthijskox Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) Hi all, First of all, i love my vega! However, the battery life in standby is driving me nuts. I tried about everything (including battery calibration) to improve it but it still drops >30% overnight.... I have push email (exchange) enabled as disabling it did not improve battery life. However, i also have a gmail account with calendar and everything and this is also using push apparantly. Is there any way to set it to check every 30 mins or so? Or does anyone have another top tip? Thanks! Edited January 21, 2011 by matthijskox

But anyhoo, here is what you require http://www.adfrad.com/2011/01/tweak-for-mo...-on-advent.html Hope this helps Rob

Guest mwnciflewog Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 Thanks but already tried this to no avail. I read all the other posts. Hi I feel your pain. Flashed my Vega to stock this morning then added r6 with performance pack. With light use I might get 30 hours (no email etc) my mate has a vega same process flash to stock then r6 and performance pack and he can get two and a half days with normal use. I've not installed any widgets or apps that require data. Is it just a dud battery?
Guest MaxiP Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 I use Tasker to control hof often my device syncs mail / contacts / etc I have it configured so that default is no sync but every hour (between 0730 & 2330) sync switches on for 5 mins. This seems to be enough to keep everything in sync without having to worry about continuous connection to the servers. Tasker also allows a myriad of other tweaks and TBH, I couldn't be without it now.
Guest warriorscot Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 You could always just turn it off at night, I've noticed that performance degrades if it is left on for too long anyway so I usually just save the battery and turn it off.
Guest chrishudsons Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Mine used to be similarly awful, but seems to have been fixed by r6 which suggests it is a software rather than hardware issue. Could you try reflashing? I have noticed that consumption also seems lower in USB host mode so you might try switching if you're in Slave?
Guest matthijskox Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 (edited) Geat tips, thanks to you all! If i flash again, i lose all my settings and apps or not? Edited January 22, 2011 by matthijskox
Guest chrishudsons Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Geat tips, thanks to you all! If i flash again, i lose all my settings and apps or not? Yes you will, unfortunately. You can do a backup first though and restore afterwards.
Guest matthijskox Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 My god, last night I lost 100% overnight! I'll reflash. I am a bit worried that restoring a nandroid backup will give me the same issues, or not?
Guest spacecadetuk Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 My god, last night I lost 100% overnight I lost 70% overnight as well.I think i'm just going to go with the easy option and just turn it off. With the ridiculous amount of time wifi sometimes takes to kick back in out of standby starting from a cold boot every morning isn't a major hardship.
Guest fresh87 Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 You could always try putting it into airplane mode and then activating wifi through something like switchpro widget?
Guest matthijskox Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Hurray!!! The reflash (after fully charging the vega) sorted it, now only 10% a night, reasonable!
Guest matthijskox Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) FYI: i found out that it was not the reflash that sorted the problem, but disabling the SAMBA filesharing app while in standby. The SAMBA app is a server app anabling you to access your vega wirelessly via your windows PC (network share). It is great but you should not leave it running while on standby..... Guest Uzi74 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I can confirm I'm also losing as an average 1,5%/hour in stand-by mode (after removing the phone apk)
Guest Clark80 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I have CR6 with PP but did not install the car add on. I also periodically look at running tasks and kill them. I also switch it off overnight. This means I charge it maybe twice a week and sometimes once.

Hi How did you find out it was samba file sharing app ? This may sound stupid but is there a task manager on the Vega were you can kill apps?
Guest warriorscot Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Killing apps generally isn't a good idea unless there is actually something wrong with one of them.
