Contact sync from handset to gmail

I looked at this thread http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-questions-faq/ but it does not answer on how can I transfer contacts from my handset to gmail.

I have contact sync enabled in settings -> account and sync -> my gmail account but it does not work. I have manually forced sync but doesn't help.

PS. I used Android Manager wifi to transfer my Outlook contacts to phone

When I manually select sync contacts, that usually does the job, I know this as I often get multiple contacts on my pc's gmail :lol:

also to back up and restore I generally open contacs then export to SD card, then just re import them when I need to.
