Guest KohlyKohl Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 I just bought a desire and my cell phone company claims they are working on 2.2 but they have been saying this since it was released and well you know how long that has been. I am sick of having no memory and so few apps installed and so I want to install a Modaco custom ROM. I have already rooted my phone but I am not sure if this ROM works with EV-DO. Any help would be greatly appreciated. James PS here is the phone - http://www.cellcom.com/phone.html?phoneid=138 I plan to upgrade so I can use the kitchen once I know this will work for me - http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...hen-2-1-eclair/
Guest dreamdealer Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 yeah if you rooted any rom for the desire will work.. lots to choose from, since its 2.2 you wanted why not use the 2.2 kitchen here. Link I am guessing you don't have apps2sd+ not the Google version but the rom developer version please don't ask me to explain the difference. so just make sure you find a rom without apps2sd+ and you will be fine. Or do more research and go for a apps2sd+ one.
Guest KohlyKohl Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 Thank you for your reply. I was thinking about going with app2sd+ which is one of the reasons I wanted to buy the upgrade for the kitchen. I do have one more question though. I backed up my phone including a nand backup but I was wondering how I can restore? I read that I needed the original radio driver but I cannot find one for Cellcom. Is this true and what should I do?
Guest KohlyKohl Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 I tried installing the r9 rom with app2sd but when the phone restarts it locks up at the white HTC boot screen. Also, I noticed that the md5sums do not match and I tried downloading the rom several times and came up with the same md5 sum that was different from the websites.
Guest KohlyKohl Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Nevermind I didn't realize that my network was CDMA which kind of sucks because there are no good CDMA roms for desire that I can find.

You still have some ROM's to choose from. Even a 2.3 Gingerbread one. Here are some links: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802822 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=777019 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835686 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806841 (still has some bugs) I recommend you start with Cyanogen... and work your way down the list with the more "intense" ROM's
Guest KohlyKohl Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Thank you for your help. I installed CyanogenMod 6 and it works perfectly except I cannot get the text to change for my service provider.
