Guest tigerbear Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 hi just received my advent vega today ,was going to download custom rom but my vega kernal version is 1.08 will it still work ?
Guest zzleezz Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Well I personally would wait a bit. Sounds like you have a newer version than we have seen before. Has your machine got flash as standard?
Guest tigerbear Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 this is all new to me, but iplayer asks me to install flash
Guest tigerbear Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 this is all new to me, but iplayer asks me to install flash
Guest zzleezz Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Very strange. Can you give the full kernel version please? I've twittered at Paul so hopefully he can lend his expertise.
Guest tigerbear Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 kernal ver 2.6.32.9_p10_v1.08_20110107_dix_uk
Guest zzleezz Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Well I'm told that it could be a whole new rom! Very exciting! Please don't change it till we have a dump or advent release an update for the rest of us. Worst case scenario is the update just mirrors Paul's r6+pp......
Guest devin1523 Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 hi just received my advent vega today ,was going to download custom rom but my vega kernal version is 1.08 will it still work ? Hello, I have received my vega yesterday and the version is 1.08, eveyrtime I attempt to update my driver, the message is the my drivers are up to date.
Guest Thresherinc Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 If you have a new Vega with kernel version 1.08 there are a couple of things you can do. 1. Do nothing (Wait until 1.08 has been released to all and the devs have had a chance to play with it and integrate it to the work here). 2. Download the 1.06 release from http://www.myadventvega.co.uk, flash that over your spanky new 1.08 kernel and then apply the Modaco updates. Personally I think I'd give the guys here a chance to get the 1.08 kernel into the Modaco updates.
Guest zzleezz Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 OK. If you are feeling clever go to link and follow the instructions Paul sets out on post 13.
Guest Pyr0x64 Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 yes, please follow the link provided by zzleezz and see if you can get a 1.08 rom dump for the rest of us
Guest tigerbear Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 help i've downloaded VISIONary r14 and run it which option do i use ?
Guest gingercat Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Temproot :-) I'd suggest run temproot, the run it again as it doesn't seem to work 1st time when I tried it
Guest zzleezz Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Following the instructions on my 1.06 Vega to familiarize myself with the process and managed to lock it up :-) Trying again. Tigerbear, don't worry if you do something that seems bad. The Vega is pretty much invincible to bricking. Even si called experts have completely failed to break it :-)
Guest tigerbear Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 ok have run temproot and have connectbot running on vega but cant copy files on to sd card
Guest zzleezz Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 When you typed in the first command "su" did it ask for permission to give superuser rights?
Guest tigerbear Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 typing su gives su: uid 10033 not allowed to su
Guest zzleezz Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 In your apps drawer look for an app called Superuser. Icon is grey of an android skull and crossbones. If that's there run it and see if connectbot has su permissions.
Guest tigerbear Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 typing sudo gives "permission denied"
Guest tigerbear Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 superuser app has "no apps in list"
Guest zzleezz Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 (edited) OK. Start again and when you run visionary run the temproot twice. Worth noting that temproot only lasts untilled you reboot. Edited January 22, 2011 by zzleezz
Guest jonn sz Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 I got my vega this week also with 1.08 flashed with pauls for 1.06.5 and worked fine.
