Guest scoobydoo99 Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 My Blade's built in earpiece speaker has all of a sudden developed a sort of a buzzing noise on the back of the sound from the earpiece. I haven't dropped it or installed anything recently. Has been working fine with the custom bladevillian, this seems to have happened suddenly for no apparent reason. I've searched the forums and can't see any obvious similar problems - anyone with any experience of this?

Guest scoobydoo99 Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Mine has developed a crackling sound, sounds like plastic sweet wrappers rustling. It sounds to me like headphones when they have blown. Unfortunately I'm not in the UK so I can't take it back to Orange, otherwise I would for an exchange. The phone is still very usable its just annoying, oh well!! That sounds similar to mine, can't think what could have caused it, guess it's going back to Orange. Wonder if it was a faulty batch - is your's the OLED model like mine?
Guest rayhigh Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Quite often you will find that the membrane over the speaker has got crinkled. Try pursing your lips around the speaker to create an air-tight seal and then suck air gently. You should hear a slight pop as the membrane pops back out. If the sound is less distorted but still not quite right, simply reverse this process. Purse your lips to the phone again and give it a gentle blow. In many cases, this will cure the issue. Perform the procedure with care and at your own risk. Good luck.

Guest sihumphries Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I had to take mine to bits and found what looked like a crumb that was causing a vibration on the speaker - works great now!
Guest azentner Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 My Blade just started playing up with the same symptom last week, what a bummer! It's bothering me so much that I've reverted back to my old Nokia phone, in the mean time, but I really miss the Android. Luckily I've got a trip to the UK next month, so I'll try to get it repaired by Orange while I'm there. Has any one had luck getting it repaired by Orange? Is it a simple process, or will I have to try convince them that something is wrong (you can still hear the conversation on the phone, only it's crappy quality)?
I had to take mine to bits and found what looked like a crumb that was causing a vibration on the speaker - works great now!

If not getting it fixed by Orange, how hard is it to dismantle the phone and try fix it myself? Thanks.

I was sure my speaker membrane was pierced but this sucking thing fixed it 100% :) Rayhigh, you are truly a gentleman and a scholar, thank You!
