Guest Jhet Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 I keep getting the message above after installing Pauls R7 rom. It actually occurs no matter what custom rom i put on. I used clockwork 2.5.1.8 to intall. When i remove my sim card the problem goes away. The message pops up over and over again when the sim is in and has rendered the phone unusable. The sim was working when the phone was stock and unlocked. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Guest Jhet Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 Ok quick update. I flashed back to the stock rom and now the phone works fine. Its seems to be the custom roms that are causing the problem. Still love to know if there is a fix for this. I going to keep the stock rom for a few days and maybe try again when I've more time.
Guest Azurren Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 This happens if you don't wipe data and cache before installing a custom rom  Note that it will wipe all user data
Guest Jhet Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 I had wiped the cache and user data before installing the roms. Couple of quick noob questions: 1. Now that i'm back on the stock orange rom will i need to root the phone again? Or is it a case that now Clockwork is on the phone it is already rooted and no need to ever do it again? 2. Whats the best backup solution out there. I used Clockwork to backup Pauls rom when i had a few apps installed. However its only really the custom apps, settings and contacts that i really need to reinstate. The operating system is somewhat interchangeable at the moment as I try out different roms. Thanks

Thanks When you say you flashed the original rom do you mean your restored your nandroid backup? If yes then the phone is still rooted and all your apps and settings are exactly how they were when you created the nandroid If no then no, it isn't rooted. Probably best to restore your nandroid :) As for backup.. Hmmm.. Tbh non of them work seamlessly. Titanium backup can back-up and restore apps but you can't use 2.1 app backups on a 2.2 rom  Nandroid backups are complete phone backups, you can't use them any other way Well, you and I couldn't :)

It was the only way i could get the phone to work!
Guest Graham1 Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) I had exactly the same error when flashing from Orange's stock rom to Modaco R7. Although the guide suggested wiping only the cache (not data), it wasn't untill I wiped the data that the error went away. You may be able to export your contacts from within "Contact", pressing Menu, Import/Export... Edited January 23, 2011 by Graham1
Guest samsung-moment Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Thanks........no i mean i downloaded the original Orange Stock rom as flashed that. It was the only way i could get the phone to work! Where can I get the original Orange Stock rom? I have a Samsung Moment and I keep getting a boot loop, no matter what rom I flash. Whenever I start the phone, I get a boot loop. the only time I get "the process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly" is when I boot into recovery, and reboot the system that way. Please help! thank you! -Anthony
