Guest dragon2611 Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 As per the topic title really, sounds distorted on most calls if I turn the volume up. Given that my phone is unlocked/reflashed I'm not sure I want to go to the hassle of trying to get orange to fix it. Almost tempted to just buy another one and use this one for my backup phone (use a pulse mini as my 2nd phone atm) Unless it's possible to change the speaker without to much hassle in which case I may risk trying to take the phone apart (If I can get a spare speaker to swap in)
Guest FelixL Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 Do you work in an environment with tiny metal-parts or swarf (didn't know this word till now, I'm German, and even my dictionary doesn't like it )? The magnet on speakers tends to hold those things, I had this with my HTC Hero. Sometimes a strong magnet can pull them away without opening the phone, but I don't know if this could harm the hardware. In my case it was enough to blow into the grid very hard. If you've got one off those compressed air guns for cleaning, you could try this, too.
Guest rayhigh Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Quite often you will find that the membrane over the speaker has got crinkled. Try pursing your lips around the speaker to create an air-tight seal and then suck air gently. You should hear a slight pop as the membrane pops back out. If the sound is less distorted but still not quite right, simply reverse this process. Purse your lips to the phone again and give it a gentle blow. In many cases, this will cure the issue. Perform the procedure with care and at your own risk. Good luck.
Guest dragon2611 Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 (edited) Thanks, just noticed i've managed scratched the screen on something as well  Must have had something in the same pocket as the phone I can see myself ending up buying a second ZTE blade sooner or later :) Edited January 24, 2011 by dragon2611
