Phone appears dead after sleep mode

Hi, ive got Sebs r8 de-orangeated ROM. It was sat in my pocket for an hour before but when i hit the power button, nothing, just black. I tried to reboot the phone but no joy, had to take battery out then i could boot up and everything ok.

Anybody have any idea why this would happen?
