Thanks to all the talented people in the community who are spending their free time, helping others like me with apps like this, tutorials and software!

I find it amazing, I always thought people in general could only be motivated to do this stuff with money?

What motivated you to start developping free ROMS, apps,..?

And what motivates you to help us noobs on the forum?

i'm tweaking the ROMs for my own use and so released stuff which others might be useful. also like prodding things into new directions (e.g. TPT which others were a little scared to try due to potential to brick their phone).

unfortunately, my development phone broke and some of the changes i made may not be legal to distribute so this is hampering me from publishing new stuff at the moment.

I think, what makes me make things work is the need of provement. I like to prove myself that I can do things other can't or won't. And of course, I like doing it. Learning is almost everything for me, and I simply can't live without it. Others work out or play footbal, or even watch TV. I won't. I do things other can't imagine, and then release it.

And there is the joy I cause to people with this stuff. You can't imagine how good it is when people thank you your hard work (of course I don't mind some donations though  but mostly what I work for is to "see" the joy on your face).

The contributors of this site all seem to have a passion for improvement.

Most great scientist, engineers and inventors got their motivation from a passion of improvement, not in a search to get ritch.

Those people should get more credit imo!

Do you all work in IT or is this just a hobby?

I actually work for Orange - that's not my motivation however I have had this phone for quite a few months before it was released.

I was previously given an iPhone and choose to go out and buy my own - non prototype ZTE Blade.

This is my first personal Android phone and as soon as I got it I wanted to learn EVERYTHING about it.

I am a software developer (JAVA) and I have developed both Android and iPhone apps, however I also work with the Ubuntu Project and have packages for that too.

Mainly I spent my first night struggling how to get the custom ROM onto my ZTE Blade,

All the info was on this forum, but it had no order of the steps - or complete instructions.

Do on the first night at about 4:20am I published my first HowTo guide.

It was 90% pulled from other posts, but I kept on expanding it from there as I learned.

When the Forum was re-org'd - I volunteered to be a MOD and I am.

I try to give help - this little device is amazing for its price and once you get a 2.2 ROM on it it's a world of difference to the Stock 2.1

Lol great person indeed; I think true genius may be pushing it a little though. (Sorry Steven, I think Newton just edged you out of the cut off point)

LOOOL he works for orange

Now its like I buy a stock Ferrari and a Ferrari-mechanic tells everyone on a forum how to tweak their Ferrari engine so it gains extra power

I wonder if your boss is pissed at you for being such an active member on a hacker/unlocker forum like this. Or maybe he is proud of you?

The contributors who have replied have in common:

-a passion for improvement

-an obsession to keep learning new stuff (how stuff works)

I also found a quote that I like of the man behind the JJ roms: " Just because "it can't be done" won't stop me from trying. "
