Guest clockwork_LS Posted January 28, 2011 Report Share Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) Ok going to try this again, should i or should i not be using a .pit file when loading the kernel, cos i tried without just now and it failed... i had to restore the entire thing to jm6, does that mean i lost root? do i have to do that again? once i get this done, i really need to write a step by step by small step for other people like me that are clueless. without .pit file im getting: <ID:0/005> Added!! <ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5).. <ID:0/005> File analysis.. <ID:0/005> SetupConnection.. <ID:0/005> Initialzation.. <ID:0/005> Get PIT for mapping.. <ID:0/005> Firmware update start.. <ID:0/005> zImage <ID:0/005> <ID:0/005> Complete(Write) operation failed. <OSM> All threads completed. Edit: Same thing happened even after patch Edit 2: my mistake, patched it wrong... Edit 3: finally running both the ext4 kernel and the beta 1, thanks to everyone that helped me and put up with my inexperience. Not had the Samsung Galaxy Tab for two days yet but already it seems like a different beast. Umm spoke too soon.......... Just noticed that the menu/home/back/search keys are permanently illuminated and the screen doesn't time out at all whatever the settings. I would in fact like an option to have the touch keys permanently On/Off/or timed. It's a bit of a nuisance for the lights to keep popping up everytime you turn a page of an ebook. It's equally a nuisance at night when you have to touch something before you can see where the keys are! Everything goes smoothly, but when I reboot, it gets stuck on the "Galaxy Tab" screen. A logcat gives me this: E:\android-sdk\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb.exe logcat - waiting for device - link_image[1995]: failed to link logcat CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE EDIT: It would seem my download was bad. I've checked zip file, and rebooted in recovery mode, selected the zip for beta 4, and tried to flash (using Clockwork.....) All the messages seem to show success, but Tab remains on beta 1 Will try again tomorrow, or just wait for GA of MCR as it seems to be OK. Guest ramboky Posted January 30, 2011 Report Share Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) Beta 4 flashed and working great except for three small issues: 1) *#1234# shows no version for PDS and CSC. They are both visible in "Check Fus" though. 2) The video app doesn't list videos stored on the internal SD, only those on the external SD card. 3) When you first boot the screen timeout does not work. However once you have opened an app it starts working and will continue to work whether an app is open or not. I had all three of these issues with the Beta 2 version too. I performed a no-wipe from Beta 1 to Beta 2 then another no-wipe from Beta 2 to Beta 4. Thanks for all the the hard work!
