Guest Gregga Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 (edited) Hey all had my vega around 2months. by accident i hit the 'recovery mode' icon on my vega. I have never touched it before and would normally do it manually with the 6seconds, 2seconds ect.. (as told on myadventvega manual) Now i am left with just a black screen and cant to anything. I was running R6 with performance pack and had the vega in USB Host. i have tried restarting several times, but no luck. I have tried to put it into recovery mode manually while connected upto laptop with power supply to install 1.08 to put it back to standard but nothing. i fear that as it was in usb host that i am very stuck :) simply because i cant access my vega through my PC to try and do anything if i could. any advice please help? Edited January 24, 2011 by Gregga
Guest gingercat Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 There are lots and lots of threads on how to recover a "bricked" Vega, basically, follow the instructions for a full update found on the Advent Vega website under downloads here There are zero reports of truly bricked Vegas, it can always (so far!) be recovered.

Guest Lennyuk Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 no you should be fine, hold power for about 6 seconds then try to put it in recovery mode again
Guest wobblydoggy Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 (edited) been in the same situation many times, just hold power button down for 6 seconds, turning the device off Press back button for 2 seconds Whilst holding the back button still, hold the power button for 2 seconds then let go off the power button and keep hold of the back button for a further 2 seconds This should enable the PC to recognise the device as APX, update the APX drivers with the recovery drivers located on the vega website and reinstall the base rom 1.08 Edited January 24, 2011 by wobblydoggy

MANY of us have been through this. The key/button presses can be tricky. You'll get there. Just takes patience. Good luck. Tip: Try just ONE second on the presses. Guest terminaljunkie Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 @wobblydoggy +1 Easy to forget the charger bit!!!
Guest gingercat Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 @wobblydoggy +1 Easy to forget the charger bit!!! Also don't forget that the screen will remain blank when waiting for the flash tool to connect (although you may notice the backlight coming on)
Guest wobblydoggy Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Also don't forget that the screen will remain blank when waiting for the flash tool to connect (although you may notice the backlight coming on) Also make sure the volume is up on your pc so you can hear when it has found the device
Guest sipart Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 ive tried that for the last 30mins but with no luck atall, think the fact that it was in usb host isnt helping I was in the same situation after trying to do the CWM and getting a BSOD. No matter how many times (20 or so) I tried pressing the buttons no joy - what worked for me was to switch the Vega off - pull the power lead out and then back in - then try and whole button pressing process again and hit it first time.
