Official 2.2 Stuck at Logo

There are similar threads about but no recent replies or solutions so I thought I would try my luck.

My Streak is standard and official in that the most I have done is update to the official 2.2 when it eventually became available and rooted only to remove bloatware then unrooted.

I was listening to a podcast (Google listen) on earphones when I heard a strange buzzing. Same effect with music player. Also any audio through speaker seemed to have stopped.

I tried to restart but got stuck at the logo.

Now I can't enter recovery or fastboot or any other mode. Just get stuck at logo.

I have also tried every combination of timings with holding the buttons down that I can find on the net i.e. hold/don't hold power down when press volume/camera button(s) etc. Also tried starting with cover off but power attached as some suggest.

Behaviour is identical with SIM and sdcard removed so I don't think it is anything to do with those.

As I can't boot in any way I can't see how to connect to the PC to start any sort of repair.

Thanks in advance for any ideas to try.
