Battery charging suddenly taking twice as long

hi all,

my battery has been on (mains) charge for 2-3hrs and its reached only 75% whereas usually it will reach 100% charge in about an hour. obviously something is sapping the power but i've no idea what. wifi and data are off. any suggestions, or is that too broad an issue?

Newer phones do this as the Android OS Learns about the battery characteristics - This is a good thing - you should end up with a battery holding more charge than before - just let it get on and charge up.

Alternatively it may be charging in the wrong mode. :)

With the phone on charge (mains), what does it say under Settings/About phone/Status/Battery status?

Also, which ROM are you using?

This info will help sort the problem.

First post by the way, excellent job you guys do here!!! :)

I am also having this problem, I have searched the forums but cant find anything

Im on jellyfish rls8 and have checked Settings/About phone/Status/Battery status and it comes up with Charging (AC) then quickly flicks to Charging USB???

The phone is definately plugged in on the mains and is taking forever?

Sorry guys had a quick play around and managed to get the phone into the right mode!!!!

While still charging i turned the phone off and when it came back on hey presto...... Charging (AC)

Dunno if its a commen problem?

i think its because there's an application running all the time. i went to sleep last night and it was on 92%, woke up 7hrs later and its on 62%!! i had a look in spare parts and it says "running 100%" and time spent without sleeping 8h 53m. i do have the nolock application which i read in one post that it drains the battery, so i've uninstalled that to see if it makes a difference.

It's normal for the phone not going to sleep while charging. Could you try to charge it via USB? This way you could see if the charger is damaged.

you misunderstand :lol:

i only mentioned it was charging in ac mode in response to a question by another poster. spare parts says since it was last unplugged it hasn't slept for 8+hrs

This is the problem I have seen on all the Froyo ROMS I've tried, although Seb's latest doesn't seem as bad. Sometimes the charging mode will not stay in AC(high rate) mode and the charging will take hours.

Keep an eye on it cedrico22, you may find your 'fix' is only temporary.

I'm glad it's not just me who has this issue. I was beginning to think my SF was faulty.

hi, i'm on jap jellyfish rls5. i've removed the nolock app and i think its ok. i'll find out later for definite under the same circumstances. i'll give that partition tutor a go and see what i get, and report back. thanks

Glad there are other people having this issue,,is there a real fix for this problem???

Im using FLB R10B rom and it does this,,turning the phone off then on again only really is a temperary fix.

Within seconds of plugging it into AC it will turn to USB and charge really slow.

Sometimes it will sray on AC,,I change from the R6 rom just the other day as i thought it was that.

I think more people are getting this than they realise,

Just tried PowerTutor and after I have installed it, it comes up with the message

"Your phone type is not recognised by PowerTutor.

You may continue to use PowerTutor however we may not be able to get all off the data for your phone and the power calculations may not be accurate".

I shall still give it a try, did it work ok for you on your OSF please???

Looks as though it is working ok, will monitor things from now on but interestingly, a quick look reveals that the lcd is using most of the power (I have it at about 30% brightness most of the time).

my osf used to charge quite well via usb with any of the three cables I use but now its very slow almost to the point of non exsistent

the mains charger seems to work ok but it will sit at whatever % it is when plugged in for ages then just seems to kick in and shoot up to full

tried re-boots etc and last did a full wipe onCMN19 (now on N21)

I also SUDDENLY got this problem. had not flashed or anything. Cm nightly 25... this must happen regardless of ROM. and I got my blade just before xmas, so (and ts OLED) so im not sure this is a newer phone issue...

It does do it regardless of the rom,,i have just put swedish springs on,,and plugging into the mains sometimes shows ac sometimes usb,,its a pita,as when it thinks its on usb takes ages to charge
