Guest Shadow75 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Hey all, I have been looking at and using many Rom's here at Modaco and also over at XDA over the many months since I got my Desire, and thought about how I would go about designing my own Rom. We all have to start somewhere and I am willing to learn. It's good to have a look around and experiment with new Rom's to help you improve better day to day use out of your phone. The reason for this is I see many out there are personalized with lots of new apps, which is where Paul has been doin where you can choose and build your Rom of how you would like it which I think is great. I feel up to the challenge of and seeing what I can come up with. Hey I can only try! And the question is why not.. Everyone want's to have the best of the best of anything. If you have ever wanted to see a certain something in Rom that no other Rom's have, let me know and I will see what I can put together. Why am I doin this you may ask? Because just like you I strive for the best of something, and I will share it with others to help your phone work faster and better. We all want the same thing in the end, and that's a faster phone that's goin to be reliable for day to day use. Any advice, idea's, or input would be very much appreciated.
Guest EddyOS Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I'm in the process of learning the kitchen myself, quite a lot of trial and error involved! Search 'Android kitchen unlockr' on Google and there are 2 parts to setting up the kitchen and importing a basic ROM (with videos) - worth a look
Guest snapilica Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 or you can use dsixda's kitchen. Much more simple.
Guest EddyOS Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 That's what I was on about  I can't work out how to get A2SD+ to sym-link to the SD card (and yes, a2sd is in the ROM using the kitchen option) Anyone care to help?
Guest Shadow75 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Thanks EddyOS and snapilica for your input. I looked at the 'Android kitchen unlockr' and 'dsixda kitchen' and they both seem vey good. I will do a bit of reading of both and see what I can learn and probably try both to see which one is better. Good video tutorials

Have you tried formatting the SD and trying it again? I know its a pain the backside to do but it may work, as I know I had to do this a while ago and it worked a treat. Make sure you back up all the necessary data and everything else, and then transfer all on your pc before you try it. Last resort I know! Let me know if you have already tried this. I have been looking around forums for an alternative but not found one yet. I will keep you posted if I find anything.
Guest EddyOS Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 I know how to back up and format an SD card  I've not done it yet as it works as it is on all other ROMs I just get it to activate on my OWN ROM...will probably try on the weekend, though
Guest EddyOS Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) For the record, formatting and repartitioning the SD card in GParted made no difference. Apps still installed on internal memory so must be an issue with the dsixda kitchen not correctly adding the scripts, gonna try an earlier kitchen build Edited January 27, 2011 by EddyOS
Guest EddyOS Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Found the issue, clash of modules - renamed one and jobs a goodun (I think)!
Guest Shadow75 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Found the issue, clash of modules - renamed one and jobs a goodun (I think)! Well done for (hopefully) figuring it out. And about the back up procedure, it was just me doin what I normally do when talking with people to make sure everyone stays safe. Maybe I should have worded it a lttle different!! Well done though
